It depends. I have taken down a Gunboat by myself in a bomber, that took a little bit of time. I can only imagine how long it would be to take down a Cruiser or larger.

With all my respect to Igiss, im sure he didnt built those models and mod to be ridiculous uneven for game play.

for god sake, even blizzard patches 10 times the skill settings in diablo II to make it balanced.
its not a shame. no one said to remove battleships. they should be priced and available as they are now in my opinion.

but the current settings completely remove fighers vs battleships issue from the game.

in freelancer, a pack of fighters DO take battleships.

Infact 2 bombers can take down a battleship and ive seen 3 fighters with novas take down a battleship, if anything battleships are underpowered but still everyone wants to nerf the battle ship till its useless or its so expensive its imposable to get one.

I admit i have one battleship, and i like my RP that comes with it, for me or more my char its his floating home he works to keep the ship online, he never stays in one sector too long, always moving on, i didn't buy the ship because i want to pwn anyone, infact if it came to it he wouldn't fight, like i said its his home not a battleship to him, he may take the odd contract out to keep his ship moving foreword and food in the bellys of his crew but thats it (And yes that is kinda a preview to the RP story i will be writing about it).

I've been here for a while. Every month, there is someone who complains about capital ships, laments the demise of the fighter, stomps his or her feet about missile turrets, flak, what have you. There is a cycle, I've determined, that focuses on the tide of Discovery. The ebb and flow of fighters, bombers, and capital ships. And every time, the suggestions are the same.

And let's be honest. It's all hot air. Nothing is going to be done about it. Nothing really *needs* to be done about it. But as long as there is something to nitpick about, there *will* be people to nitpick about it. And I'm not flaming (Read: NOT. Meaning, unintentionally or otherwise, I ain't doing it. So thank ye, admins, for passing over my post and understanding that I'm making a statement about the world in a third-person, detached way. No flames here.) AC_Merc. I am merely stating that there is always, always, always some overarching pitchforks-and-torches kinda problems. And it usually stratifies the community in twain.

Well. This is what I suggest.

Leave it the way things are now. There are problems that have been addressed and ignored (for various reasons, none of which really matter nor are flame-related. Just, y'know, interest dwindles and so it becomes forgotten) that are FAR more important than capital ship usage. So let me just say, yes. We have lots of capital ships. I'm with ya on that one. And why not? When it comes right down to it, capital ships don't necessarily take that much skill to pilot. To drive one WELL does, yeah, but you're, more or less, invincible in a capital ship.

And who doesn't want to be invincible?

There will be the F_Wolves (Not flaming, merely citing a common critic. I'd use quotes, but I can't be bothered to learn how.) who bemoan the fact that pirates are unable to use capital ships. There will be the Wasabis who demand that Igiss is trying to screw us all over. There will be the Malaclypse_666es who don't give a hoot and just want to play the game. And there will be the Harlequinns who come and make general observations that are really, really obvious and yet cannot remain unstated.

The problem isn't necessarily the ships. It is the people who are driving them. The people who are too lazy to capitalize their sentences. I'm penning the blame (not flaming, blaming. A minute difference, but one that I shall use until I die) on the caliber of player we have. And we can't necessarily gauge and increase this caliber, because that would make us elitists. And no one likes a Hitler-server.

There isn't a magical cure. There are witch-hunts. Do what you will, I've decided that my opinion is good for these kinds of posts and little more. If the consensus swings in favor of removing capital ships, all the protesting in the world on my part won't stop it. And if the consensus is to ban capital ship shields, well, again, my protests won't stop it.

Administrators, none of this post should be considered flame. Just want to make that clear. I'm making an argument that doesn't insult any particular person. To everyone else, please, don't take offense to my long-winded post. Thanks!

e....but when u want to make a new character and that is your battleship character......is going to be painful for fixing reps and everything...

ppl complain about battleship can take down by few fighter and bomber..it's because battleship's gun is so haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard to hit a fighter....battleship need some anti-fighter weapon....

Stop asking for price increases and ask to have the non-RP trade routes like Harris removed.

AC, I took i took on a Huntress in a Taiiden and it took about 20 minutes to down and I had 20/20 bots and bats left. It is relativly easy fo a single bomber to take out a cruiser.

Take a look at RM. 2 Admirals = 2 Battleships. The chancellor has decommissioned his BS and is probably being made into some sort of museum now. 2 captains = 2 cruisers. 3 commanders = 3 gunboats. The rest fly wraths and bombers as lieutenants. You will not fly anything higher than your rank allows. Another anomaly about the RM...all ships are Rheinland ships!

Put the big guys in the guard systems. Make mercs fly GB's or lower. Give the bombers back the power to take down capships, cause if not, the capship whoring will be worse than it is now. And it's pretty damn bad now.

I have long been a champion of the fighter pilot. Go back through my posts about capship whoring, fighter nerfing, etc. I fly fighters and one BS. The BS is basically there for looks, other than that it's a big fat target with a bullseye painted on the side. I love big battles composed mainly of fighters. I don't care if I die, cause, frankly, it's part of the game. I believe those who fly capships (don't take offense to this, guys, I know some players can't fly fighters-nothing wrong with that) are afraid of being killed, they run away when 5 fighters are about to take them down, they feel safe in their big bad ship; they're the ones who go out looking for a fight and are the first to leave when things look bad.





do u ever see bomber whore? bomber can kills every thing....fighter, gunboat, cruiser,,battleship,,i feel bomber is too powerful..battleship don't have any anti-fighter weapon,,so fighter and bomber it's so easy to destroy a battleship..fighter whore+bomber whore...cap ship=nothing..
