There was a somewhat broken multiplayer mod for Oblivion. I'd like to see that too - limited multiplayer (up to 4 players or so) in a "real game" like Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout/Morrowind would be amazing.
But seriously, MMO fans out there, I am a total n00b but am I wrong in saying that the gameplay is basically more or less the same (100% stat-based) in all MMO's?
Nah, it is mostly "skill - cooling time" based. You press several keys to activate several skills and fight against stuff or at each other.
Role Playing is somewhat fail. Actually Ultima Online was the only one I saw good RP. Since the games became too big and open to everyone, it is mostly kids farming for better items and doing trolololo. Ultima was good because it had different servers where RP was obligatory etc.
Yeh its pay to play where people heal their RL incompetence by yelling and being big. My opinion.
ToR, WoW and whatnot are all the same. RP is only good to some degree, then you go PVP where its always just one combination and item set that matters. Player skill equals press - wait - press- wait x repeat and hope to win.
If it be player skilled, nobody would play. YOu get few good ppl pwning rest and no money flow. No game then. Silly.
Fallout, Skyrim and whatnot MMO´s. If its same, itll suck. It needs to be completely non-moderated, much like EVE world.

In really high level competitive play, or in high level end-game raids, its not just stat-based. You have to know all of the abilities, all of their cooldowns, all of their costs and benefits (and I dont mean just your own). But yeah, the gameplay, as a term for itself, is the same in all MMOs.
But yeah, in pub matches its mostly about stats and items.
Well, even if it won't amuse me... Bethesda will have more cash to develop "regular" TES series at least. I am waiting for them to release the main theme, another Morrowind variation.
Nothing can ever beat Nerevar Rising. The reason they're all "Morrowind variations" though, is because - beginning with Morrowind - they were all written by the same guy.
