Voted no. He "suggests" to use common sense in their gameplay, but in this particular reason, his "common sense" is: I say this, and you agree with it! That's a big nono from me. Also Morrigan noticed pretty well the audacity he puts on display every time he speaks with someone.

He'll be an effective admin-dictator then and I mean that in a good way. Much better than the lynch-mob-justice that some people want.

Thats EXACTLY, what discovery needs these days.
With all the speedmodders, hackers, cheaters, OOC'ers around, we need such a good admin, because BULLDOGNK alone cant do this, he needs annother tiran to rule with an iron fist:)

Go Jes!

"Thats EXACTLY, what discovery needs these days."

i disagree. such an attitude does not provide a good community climate and a feeling to be within equals. - no offence, but its a very american way. i d like to see admins that are sensitive and have a feeling for individuals. the positive side about being absolute strict about written rules is that i would expect one to be fair to everyone, the long term discovery player as well as the newbie; but that ll have to be proven.

PS.: since the written rules are sometimes contradicting, i would think that being an admin does require some deal of understanding for an individual player. that is - time to listen to stories and never never never to be prejudice. there is no fixed judgement to be done. not before every detail is cleared up. but like i said, i don t know him - so thats just my general opinion about that.

what i don t like to have is ... admins that are feared by the players! admins that are sanctioning, yelling at people etc. thats not good. i don t know how the relationship of admins is towards the community. but i fear that for the common player, the admin is not so much as a guide to better roleplay, but someone you d better never have to talk to, cause when an admin talks to you, its mostly cause something is out of the ordinary in a negative sense.
of course that is needed aswell, sanctions, yelling at people, and i don t know how an admin can be more a part of the community as an equal. thats a risk as much as a chance for a new about-to-become-admin.

I voted 'yes'.

Although he might be a little inflexible in his decisions, an admin's judgment is not supposed to be called into question. This isn't a democracy here-- it's an adminocracy. The fact that we even get to vote on matters such as these is a privilege many boards are not afforded. Hoodlum always makes fair calls, even if some of the people involved are unhappy with the decision. But that would be the point, right? It's called compromise-- and I've never seen Hoodlum post an outrageous compromise.

I think he would be a great addition to the team. I only hope that it doesn't take up too much more of his time. He's already a pretty busy guy. Discovery needs more admins-- there's no doubt about that. The member count seems to have increased exponentially, and continues to skyrocket. I can't tell you how many times I've had a situation and searched to no avail for an admin online. To be honest, I won't be satisfied until there is at least one admin on 24/7.

Jinx-- I DO take offense to your 'American' jest. To counter your point: An admin is a leader-- not a friend. Obviously, you've never been in a position of leadership, otherwise you would understand this. "No offense," but you don't know what you're talking about.

*Cough* Neither Hoodlum nor BULLDOGNK, who is arguably our harshest Admin, are American.

no, never been a leader of that sort - teacher in RL, and decissions - i can t make decissions all alone. i do have to gather as many details as possible before i can make a decission, allways gotto try to be objective. - btw. no offence taken. there are many forms of leadership. i don t think that an admin should be like a military leader that is not to be questioned. however that is my opinion. decissions are easier and quicker that way, no doubt.

edit: ah, stupid figure of speech from my side. my appologies for that american thing - it didn t really fit in too well and was prolly still offending. so sorry bout that one.

edit 2: not pointed a finger at anyone, nither existing admins nor future admins. its just a general concern that comes with a position of power within a community. i may not judge any of those anyway, for the very reason that i don t know them. i don t know bulldognk, igiss, korrd, hoodlum etc etc. so what can i say about them - nothing. those concerns are just general concerns that i would have when anyone else would be suggested for that position. in short it means : only time will tell... and like i said before, i voted "no" just for the single reason that there was no "no" before. nothing personal - just want the "no" bar to exist, too.

If the admins or Hood wants the reason, you can PM me. (Would rather not share it with the whole community)

Well Hoodlum is definitely qualified for the job, and Tony needs someone to take the pressure off of him. He's done 90% of the sanctions as of late, having Hood helping out a little will make things go a bit smoother. Whilst Hood and I have had our disagreements on things before. He's always been level headed and down to Earth. So I voted yes...

If I post rules in the Mandalorians (IE, of course), and no enforcement, who is to make people follow the rules? They are a waste of time.

You must realize that sometimes, you have to rule with an Iron Fist sometimes. Germany was destroyed after WWI by the Versailles Treaty, and in a short 30 years, Hitler rebuilt it as a Dictator. Now if he hadnt blamed it on the Jewish community... Another Example; Russia. Joseph Stalin rebuilt Russia to a good nation and today it more than supports itself. What kind of government did Stalin use? Dictatorial Communism. You did what stalin said, or you'd be shot and your family would be billed for the bullet (Sadly, that is what happened...)

Hitler and Stalin may be bad people, but you must realize that they are not granted the fact that they rebuilt their nations strongly in short ammounts of time. They had to do bad things, but the goal was accomplished.

You must choose Between what benefits people, or what is right. I think Hoodlum will be a great admin.

Also, About the trial period thingy; They wouldn't have nominated Hoodlum without qualifying him first, and getting his acceptance to an admin.

Again, dont get the wrong idea about me just cause I used two evil dictators as an example, credit them for their accomplishment, an scorn them for their failures.

My 2 Denari.

signature goes here once its done!
