Looking for Hessian ship models

I like what you did to the hump / bulge whatnot, and I like how you changed the underside. Could we get a perspective shot from the side to better see how it looks like now? That would be really appreciated.

I also understand where you're coming from with the engine, so, maybe you could alter those circular shapes on the sides to resemble the circular things you can find on an Odin / Thor a little more? I think that'd make the rear look even more Hessian-ish. Other than that I like it myself.

Alright, here is a side perspective shot with an Osiris (light battleship) as well as the Rheinland battleship (heavy battleship), scaling can easily be changed. I'll also see about those details on the snubs and see if they can be applied here.

Be aware that for 4.86, a differentiation of hardpoints on capital ships is planned. Cruiser and battleships will have different weapon hardpoints for light turrets (secondary, tertiary, flak or solaris), primaries (primary turrets, cerberus turret) and heavy slots (mortar, BS missile, pulse cannon, battlerazor etc)
Try and plan hardpoints on your model with this in mind. Adding more hardpoints for light slots should be simple, all you need is a flat piece of hull, as the turret models are relatively small.

A light battleship does suit the Hessians, I think. Good class choice.

That's hot. Much appreciated, the shot, and you trying to look about the details. I can clearly see that you've made the bulge / hump smaller now and it looks good this way. My suggestion for incoporating the extra turret slots as Blodo requested would be that you'd add two more somewhere at the center section, along the sides I'd say, and the last one wherever you deem fitting. Other than that nothing more from my end, you're doing a good job.

I'd like to see a comparision with the Bretonia Battleship to see if it's a light or a medium battleship.
Also I'd like to know what you had in mind for turret setup, with the new split-BS turrets that will be needed.

I don't really like these, they make it look like the Mako.
Also I'm not really sure about the style of the engine...but mh...don't know what would be more fitting...

Overall the model is alright though. Now it needs fitting Hessian textures etc...

Actually yeh, now that I think of it Hades those things on the underside that Syrus pointed out are kind of funky looking. Might try making those armor plates or whatever they are actually useful and stretch them out horizontally alongside that flat portion of the hull. Could put the extra gun mounts on top of them too. Otherwise like I said on Skype it's a solid model, can't wait to get to work texturing it.

The problem I'm seeing with these models is zero consistancy. Luis' Cruiser looks nothing like the Gunboat, and these Battleship models look nothing like the Cruiser, or the Gunboat.

So if we assume one of these models is accepted, and the Cruiser model is accepted, then we're going to have three different Hessian Capital Ships that look absolutely nothing like each other...

Well... I dunno Ashes. Same could be said of the Bretonian capital ship like. Sure, the gunboat and dessie look similar, but then the battleship looks rather completely different.

The other issue is that the gunboat was designed by Angel of Mercy then cruiser redesigned by Luis and now battleship made by Hades. Three different modellers mean three different models, but I'll be honest with you and say that I would actually hate having the cruiser and battleship being just bigger versions of the gunboat. It would be boring IMO. So as long as the textures are consistent with the rest of the current Hessian line, I think the models will look similar enough.

A lore excuse for this would be simple (if we would even need one): the Hessians take their engineering skills from a lot of different sources, such as: former Rheinland corporate staff, defecting Military scientists, sympathetic IMG miners, allies in arms in the form of the SCRA/Unioners/LWB/Bundschuh, and possibly even studying Corsair capital ship designs from their wrecks around the Omega systems. Something like this definitely wouldn't promote uniformity, but would promote adaptability.

Textures, dear modelers.
They make the ships look like they're from the same faction.
But don't look at the gunboat to get a sense of hessian cap style.
Look at the fighters.

The gunboat isn't actually pretty - sorry to the modeller - but it's ewww.
It's also horrible in PvP, but this set aside it still isn't fitting for hessians and should be redone too.

Should the battleship look like the cruiser, just in big? No. The cruiser looks good as it is.
The battleship looks good as it is too.

Another thing ... the engine-effects should be similar.

EDIT:
I also like the slight resemblance of the Rheinland BS in this BS.
But as I said, the engines aren't that fitting for a Rheinlandish Hessian Battleship in my opinion.
