' Wrote:Not bad, Adam, not bad at all. Since I RP a doctor, I long ago suggested medical supplies. One person said, "well, we have pharmaceuticals" but those are drugs, not needles, I.V. tubes and such so the Med Kits would work.
FL version 2.29 had medical supplies in it.

I would also like to suggest coffee as a commodity. Most of us drink it so it fits. One must have the right climate for it so in RP, restrict it to a certain area for sale and due to demand, make it profitable.

I was thinking back to my robotech days where you could buy three types of med kits. I might think of a Field Surgeon Kit for patch-ups and rename the med kit to "the black bag" but no one would get that refference

Coffee, COFFEE! Why didn't I think of that! Done!

' Wrote:Hull COmponents are allready ship components. I would rename that to 'Ship Equipment' Rather then Components. Lot easyer for unders to understand

Medkits: Buy low deep in house space, sell heigher in places like leeds, where Kusaria and bretonia are often fighting. Medkits however should be approx the cost of water etcetera.

I do like to see commodotys like:

Station Parts (Gives ageira a sub from gatelane)
Mail bags (Gives universal shipping an alternate) Wheter or not, real mail will never dissapear.)
Jewerly
Building Parts (For planetairy houses
Beer (Aside from wine)
Gambling machinery: (bought far far far away from los angelus., sold at LA)
Militairy Equipment (We have got vehicles, Why not equipment, not every war is foguth in space)

I put '€œship components'€ as the title because when we repair our ship that '€œcomponent'€ repair thing for 243 credits comes out of no where. But I understand. I'€™m going to rename it '€œInternal Ship Components'€ for less confusion.

To help along the same lines, Military Equipment can be Military Field Equipment to make it a tad more specific.

Station parts I was thinking about when I made defense turret parts. I'€™ll think it over and see what I come up with

Mail? Well I'€™m sure Discovery still uses pen and paper, just seems redundant with forum chats, and interstellar communication.

Beer: after talking with some Bounty hunters, it'€™s a go!

Gambling machines'€¦..er'€¦flying is a big enough gamble for me.

' Wrote:I've always found myself coming up with ideas for commodities. If no-one minds, I'll dump them here:

- Falsified IDs (Illegal)
Some people need to get from A to B. Some of those people may need to get from A to B without anyone knowing who they are, or that they are at B in the first place. As such, it is a high probability that falsified papers will be used to commit such an act.

- AI Datacores
Programmed and shipped, these AI cores can be implemented into a variety of tasks, from simple house keeping to ship navigation.

- Datapads
Used for a variety of purposes, the datapad is a necessary tool for everyone no matter who they are, what they do or where they do it.

- Luxury Vehicles
Planets are big. People need to get around on these big planets. Of those that do, quite a few want to do it in style.

- Empty Shipping Container
These containers are ofen used for a variety of shipping purposes. Problem is, they're sending them out along with the goods, and the people sending them sometimes need the containers back.

- Falsified IDs (Illegal)
You so beat me to that. With all the RP of '€œillegal docking at station.'€ Reports, it only makes sense.

- AI Datacores
Thought about this, its more of a break off of the robot servants and nanobot control device I thought of. Tempting

- Datapads
And where the heck could I play my MP3s on? Done.

- Luxury Vehicles
Again, I thought about this one. It makes sense with all the other luxury things Im making

- Empty Shipping Container
Kina already have this with the cargo pods and stuff. These would be smaller versions, but a bit too redundant.

' Wrote:Don't discount the basic commodities! Here's a few I whipped up below. I was inspired by Gallia's fossil fuels among other things...

PALLADIUM
Palladium is a precious silvery-white metal. It finds many uses, such as in radiation shield alloys and as a catalyst in fuel cells. It is also beginning to supplant gold and platinum in the use of jewellry, owing to its sturdiness and the extreme rarity of the other two metals in Sirius.

XENON
Xenon is a colorless, odorless noble gas. Its uses are many and varied -- lighting flashtubes, a fuel in ion engines, a stimulant in lasers, and an anesthetic, just to name a few. Xenon is a rare component in the atmosphere of many planets, but can be found in relatively abundant in some space-borne pockets.

COAL
Coal is the remains of ancient organic material, compress into a rock-like form. It exists in relative abundance on many life-bearing planets. The use of coal was abandoned centuries ago, but it has enjoyed a resurgence of late. It can be burned to generate energy in a pinch, although this is a "quick and dirty" method. More commonly it is gasified into CO and elemental hydrogen, from which fusion isotopes can be extracted.

LNG
Liquefied Natural Gas is a mixture of methane, along with trace ethane and longer chain hydrocarbons, compressed into liquid form for easy storage. Like coal it is a byproduct of organic decay, and can generate energy either through direct combustion (somewhat more cleanly than coal), or reduced to hydrogen and its fusible isotopes. Unlike coal, LNG components can be found in space-borne gas pockets as well as on terrestrial planets.

All this stuff throws me back to Privateer 2. Where there is oil there has got to be coal right? More fuel for the Council'€™s fire.

Xenon : don'€™t we have that?

PALLADIUM: with all the P items I wonder if people will get confused.

LNG sounds like a refinement process but does seem right up their ally. I'll have to think about all that.

Ah well, I quick scan of the periodic table;)

Hows about YTTRIUM... I don't think we have any commodities starting with 'y'. On earth it is used in superconductors, lasers and some specialized glass. And it has a cool name.

Quote:Sirius Beer-
The slogan '€˜Sirius Beer for serious drinkers.'€™ Has had many jingles and sporting events associated with the famous beer. From the time of the sleeper ships, the recipes were stored to revive the age old tradition of celebration, parties, and bar room brawls. Sirius beer is still created by the brewing and fermentation of starches, mainly derived from grains and non altered malted barley, mingling versions of wheat, and maize. While wine and other watered down more intoxicating beverages are found in Liberty and Kusari Bretionia and Rheinland houses share the main stock when it comes to Sirius beer production.

"give me a sidewinder fang"
"all we have is liberty ale, friend."

loving the suggestions, especially the rp cargos. any way we could have a way of installing them, so they don't get lost on death?

the other way is spaceship crew's availability - ubquitous, but no profit in shuffling them around.

Added 11 New Commodities and six more Icons. I'm going to start to put some thought into pricing and getting that code worked out for trading.

The Nomad Hybrid items doesn't make any sense.

In two decades, only the Order and BHG Core have managed to create a couple of guns based off Nomad Tech, but it's still only a cheap ripoff.

No one has successfully made Nomad/Human Lamps or creatures or anything.

The others seem completely plausible though.

That's why I expose the ideas here. To filter out the vaporware with hardware. I'll think of something else nomadish, maybe.

I have a base selling price for most of the commodities. There are a few I'm rethinking and others yet to be made. I have the pricing and sell/buy thing figured out! I am afraid to actiually test it. I'll try it on my pc and see what happens.

Ship Components '€“
[Image: shipcomponents.png]
Lowest Selling price: 720
Cargo Space needed:1
Not a day goes by in the repair bay where the ship builder sees a repair list stating '€˜component'€™ with little or no explanation as to what was being fixed. Mechanics say they are needed parts to keep major ships systems functional, while many ship owners claim they are just a way to bloat the repair bill. The fact remains, from star flyers to battle ships, these components are the glue that binds ship functions together,

Med Kits -
[Image: medkit.png]
Lowest Selling price: 1270
Cargo Space needed:1
Space travel has its fair share of injuries, many of which are minor in comparison but can become crippling or even fatal if not treated. With many main medical hubs far off the normal lanes, medical kits can provide moderate medical treatment with little training for the user. Equipped with various bandages, laser scalpel, synth skin patch, universal hemoglobin, antibiotics, deliberator, and medical scanner, this kit can extend a persons life for the critical hours or days need to get them to a proper medical facility.

Solar Power Generators -
[Image: solarcollectoricon.png]
Lowest Selling price: 870
Cargo Space needed:1
Power generators have always been the heaviest and bulky equipment needed in a new environment. Solar power generators provide renewable energy at a fraction of the weight and size needed when high energy demands are not an issue. Stored backups provide night time energy and can keep a small colony or new settlement going for months until a more permanent centralized energy source can be constructed.

Environmental Suits-
Lowest Selling price: 423
Cargo Space needed:2
Any planetary survey has the potential for harmful affects on the human body. From low levels of radiation, toxic gases, bio hazards, and extreme temperatures, these suits can protect and support life for up to 27 hours.

Mag Loaders '€“
Lowest Selling price: 1250
Cargo Space needed:3
With the ever increasing demand to reduce cargo load times, human and even robotic workers can'€™t do the work of heavy machinery. Able to lift 1-100 tons, it takes only a few of these to fill even the largest transport to full capacity.

Robot Servants '€“
Lowest Selling price: 1613
Cargo Space needed:1
Limited AI and basic programming to perform mundane tasks that allow their human counterparts to address other activities. Combined with little or no down time, few complaints, and higher work capacity, these robots provide an excellent commodity in developing worlds until a larger human populace is established. They come with Medical, Construction, Tender, and household programming.

Enhance! '€“
[Image: enhanceicon.png]
Lowest Selling price: 243
Cargo Space needed:1
The answer to Cardamine was a pharmaceutical steroids that enhances performance without genetic alteration and is advertised as a '€˜safe'€™ alternative to other products. Increasing adrenaline and pseudo-anabolics while providing daily supplements, this a must have for the long space convoys and planetary worker with no time for those hour hours of sleep. Like most enhancement drugs, there is a warning of slight risk of dependency, blindness, arthritis-like pain, and brain hemorrhaging. These are extremely rare cases and in no way deter one from its use.

Prefab Modular Home -
[Image: PMHicon.png]
Lowest Selling price: 1890
Cargo Space needed:3
The PMH units are the trailer homes of the future! Expandable cube dwellings to 600 square feet with additional add-on modules for general purpose or expandability. Primary units come with lodging, bathrooms, cooking space and food storage to keep your beer cold!

Nanobot control systems '€“
Lowest Selling price: 710
Cargo Space needed:1
Most pilots don'€™t think twice when activating their nano bot repair systems and are unaware a sophisticate computer controls the process. This device has one sole purpose of controlling and delegating repair parameters to the millions of nano bots stored in key locations on a ship. Preprogrammed to structure and design of a ship, once activated, it sends the nanobots to work, renewing armor and most internal structures to near perfect conditions.

Escape Pods '€“
[Image: EscapePodsicon.png]
Lowest Selling price: 2312
Cargo Space needed:2
No one will admit it, but in the void of space. '€˜accidents'€™ happen. Either from, when ships integrity gives way, due to someone'€™s poor piloting or inability to avoid fire, the emergency systems kick in and the pod, hopefully with live cargo, is ejected. Equipped with a strong ECM that blocks nearly all sensors to see an escape pod as background space, allows an ejected pilot or ship commander the privilege to live and fight another day. This device can be turned off in order for search and rescue to pick them up.

Defensive Satellite parts-
Lowest Selling price: 1343
Cargo Space needed:1
The first lines of defense around most high profile stations are defensive satellites. Loaded with missile packs and tracking systems, limited shielding and repair systems, defensive modules, these automated defenses can be as expensive to maintain as a fully armed fighter. Even with the fincianal overhead, maintaining these to defend a stations is sometimes preferable to no defense at all.

Exotic Pets '€“
Lowest Selling price: 1050
Cargo Space needed:1 or 2
There are some who cannot live without their animal companion and are willing to pay a premium to have one. Reported to relieve stress, help the infirmed, and provide cost effective security, some say, humanity would not be the same without them Others say they taste great with ketchup.

Covert Devices. '€“
Lowest Selling price: 1007
Cargo Space needed:2 or 1?
Spying on one'€™s neighbor is as old as history itself. Many will pay a hefty sum to obtain confidential information either on their corporate or military adversaries. House governments use the same devices, '€œfor the good of the people.'€ Though many speculate their motives are just as corrupt. Police and covert ops can ship these with little regulations while freelancers and pirates will come under great scrutiny.

Sirius Beer-
Lowest Selling price: 501
Cargo Space needed:1
The slogan '€˜Sirius Beer for serious drinkers.'€™ Has had many jingles and sporting events associated with the famous beer. From the time of the sleeper ships, the recipes were stored to revive the age old tradition of celebration, parties, and bar room brawls. Sirius beer is still created by the brewing and fermentation of starches, mainly derived from grains and non altered malted barley, mingling versions of wheat, and maize. Data pads
Lowest Selling price: 121

Cargo Space needed:1
The oldest of fossil fuels, used in cooking, transportation, and in large amounts, power generation.
