I've noticed that activity for all the police factions is considerably low. BPA has very few members, LPI has many members, but very few active ones. KSP is terminal. GRP...well, there dead. Not sure about RFP...they look as if they are the strongest of the bunch, which isn't saying much.
I would like to see all these factions make a resurgence, but I'm not sure how to kindle interest. I've flown with LPI when it was doing great. Libby swarms were fun. I joined BPA about a year ago to help them out, but for some reason I just can't get going with them.
Is it simply because they fly the weakest ships? The military factions seem to have all the members. The police factions are more rp oriented than their military counterparts, I believe. Maybe that's the reason. I don't know.
Anyways, if anyone can give me some ideas on how to resurrect the respective police organizations, I'm listening.
more bounties fer lawfuls.
And better bounties.
That way they dont just play mercs all teh time.
Xenos? Hah. Mark's good, but the rest o you aint all that.

gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|
Thought I had a answer but I really don't know. Police factions can do just about everything the Navy counterparts can. Its just a different brand of RP that people don't jive with, I guess. Hell, you can make more money "pirating" in the LPI than with most actual pirates(ore pirates not included).
In my opinion, we were just lucky with the LPI back in the day. We had a good number of players that loved the faction coupled with a tight knit group feeling. It just doesn't have that now. If you can manage to make that happen you are golden. Getting better ships or some other bonus is not enough.
Being a KSP officer for about 4 or 5 years now, and being the current "leader" of the KSP, I tried to respond to this. But it just ended up being a garbled mess about my personal problems with being a police officer, involving traders who don't know Kusari laws and unlawfuls that I can't get rid of diplomatically. I don't like PvP.
In any case, yes. Police factions are abysmally inactive. But really, they ought to have some of the most power within their houses. They're the closest things to rule-makers and government that we have in Disco, but that power is just one of the many police-jobs that gets handled by the military. If some of the police factions could just rise to the challenge and actually seize the in-RP power that ought to belong to them, then they'd be a hell of a lot more interesting and would probably attract a lot of members. But it's not easy to do.
And yeah, I think that military factions are taking a lot of potential police pilots away from the police factions. The military already does just about everything that a police officer can, and then some. And on top of that, they fly a wider range of more appealing ships.
I mean, I've got all sorts of thoughts on the topic of the current issues with police factions. I just suck at getting those thoughts sorted out and legible. But I'm doing my best behind the scenes to make the KSP a more interesting faction. Again, all sorts of ideas... I've just got to organize them and implement them.
Police factions are redundant. As leader of the GRP, it gets harder and harder to entertain your members in areas where you're either useless or is a low population zone.
"THE HULL HAS BEEN BREACHED AND THESCIENCEIS LEAKING OUT!"
It is simple. No one respect's them. Including their own militaries. People get fed up,and just leave. Also you get a bunch of hostile GB's,or larger, and what can police do in a LF. If they goto bombers then people complain they are using gear that is military. Sooo. thats why police are pretty much no more.
