Can the SCRA official players not refer to their indy counter parts as secondary or reserve? Typically the indy numbers far out match that of the official, so it makes no sense to call them reserve. Referring to them as secondary is also rather stupid, I know of no nation that refers to the members of their reserve type units as secondary units. They refer to them as the reserve.
Perhaps create a two tier system which reflects the way Disco operates. Examples so bear with me.
SCRA official = The People's 85th Fleet
SCRA indy = free to create their own little groups and give them names.
When an official refers to an indy he doesn't call them secondary or reserve. He actually calls them by their rank or unit. Of course this requires the indy players to also role play too.
Also, remember, unless you are Alvin or a SiC in the SCRA - you are no better than the indy players. You cannot order them around. That faction right is reserved for Alvin and his Seconds.
Yes, this rant could use some more thought, but I think the SCRA HC are smart enough to get the gist of what I am trying to say.

If the indies give thier wings names, or inform us of their ranks, we'll roleplay accordingly. But if any admirals pop up, we'll refer to them by,an equivalent or lower rank. We haven't had Admirals since Broch.
I get the gist, prolly the rest will get the gist. Thanks for the concern.

Not quite. Anyone in the SCRA with a rank at Captain or Above has authority over the Reserve fleet. Unless it's a completely ridiculous or pointless order, you can bet HC will back it.

There's also a difference between a Special Forces Unit, and what's basically a Militia. Sure, one has far less numbers, but who do you want dealing with important missions? They're reserve.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or being serious but just to clarify, the Cruiser isn't going to be on the Indy ID. Don't know why anyone would think that we, or the admins would let the Cruiser be used in an ID as powerful as this one, but it's not going to happen.

But still, said Captain or whatever-rank can't order any indie around ingame unless the leader or 2ic's log and do it personally. Guess that was the main point.
Yes, they absolutely can. They just can't FORCE indies to follow orders by using FR2, but you can bet it won't be pretty if HC has to step in and use FR2 on their behalf. In general, it's a good idea to listen to the SCRA's orders, mostly because we know what we're doing, and mostly because 99% of the time High Command supports its lower ranking members. We're a unified front and all, even if we argue behind closed doors.
The indie bashing has begun before the ID has even seen light. On top of the educational lore it might be nice to put out a post on exactly what the intended role of this open ID is to be. Between some of the official faction's leadership apparently being caught unawares and persons within the faction chest beating their evident superiority and importance there are a number of warning signs of upcoming anger and resentment generated by a vague promise of an open SCRA and an uncertain but increasingly hostile potential reality.
