[color=#FFFFFF]So ME 3 is out. Even though I doubted Bioware I decided to show my support for them for the good old times' sake. I pre-ordered the game, I will get it this Friday (EU always gets them at the end of the working week), however I 2milordied it today, I would like to think that way I'm avoiding Origin and still giving my money to Bioware but I digress.

Let's talk about the game itself. I haven't gotten very far in the campaign but I will share my impressions with you. It's not a bad game by far, approaching it totally sceptical helped to some extent. There are a few flaws I would like to point out. First of all Bioware how on Earth do you manage to produce better face textures in every next game at the expense of clothing and misc textures? In ME 1 the faces were blurry yet the clothes looked awesome, in ME 2 the faces were quite good yet the armour and the clothing textures look rather mediocre, now we have epic looking faces and absolutely horrendous looking uniform textures. But that's a small thing that can be fixed. Bioware was never good with optimizing their textures as demonstrated by Garrus' face in the PC version of ME1, perhaps a patch will fix it. Another thing is the writing. I can't talk about the story but the quality of the dialogue writing has gone down, I know it's a third instalment and it should be accessible to players new to the Franchise but for Christ's sake you don't need to repeat everything 15 times with overly dramatic voice to underline the gravity of the situation! Good points now - the cinematic value of the game has reached low Earth orbit. The actual playing area on a map is not that big but the "live" backdrops sure make the whole thing epic. Another thing that I like so far is a certain Mass Effect 1 vibe, it's not too much so it doesn't make the game feel old or like a step back.

So to tl;dr version of my impressions so far - I'm not disappointed, but I am not blow away either.

I'm abstaining altogether. On-release DLC is plain unethical and EA is plain evil.

Considering how badly Bioware butchered Dragon Age II and how much influence EA has over the company, I've got very little faith in them at the moment. I'll just bite the bullet and refuse to play ME3, even though I really want to.

Mass Effect 3 requires Origin on PC.
Mass Effect 3 has horrible DLC plans.
Mass Effect 3 is owned by EA.

I'm boycotting this game with my wallet and not even bothering to pirate it for attention to the game itself. The company is going down a horrible road. All EA games I own are also uninstalled. I miss Burnout and Red Alert 2 so much:(

[color=#FFFFFF]I agree, but saying that EA is going down a horrible road is like saying gas chambers are places of spiritual and cultural enlightenment

My lurking has brought me to this thread.

I just finished the game....aaannnddddddd...if your on the fence about getting it...

DON'T

And if that didn't convince you, you are already lost.

The Ending was the lamest excuse for the conclusion to a trilogy ever. the choices you where given are crap, to say the least.

I always liked the ME series because it was grounded in reality, no spirits or divine intervention or any crap like that, just a technical shootout with big aliens and evil groups. I won't spoil it, but you don't get to kill Harbinger. Its really un-fulfilling. Its like having sex then your partner just leaves before climax.

Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.

Torrented for story.

Disappointing. Gameplay not so amazing. The games decline, the first is the best, the last is the worst.

The end.

I smell story expansion DLC, possible 'true ending' to come. Knowing EA.
