Name of suspect: Mariko Kietan.
Age: Fourteen (14).
Occupation: GC pilot.
Notes on activities:
Has no concern with the navies and police units of the Kusari. Is addicted, but as far as can be told, not a supplier of Cardimine. Born on Kyushu and taken forcibly into slavery at the age of four, she developed a taste for death after seeing so much of it around her for so long. She was missing until her re-appearance three years later
At the age of seven, she escaped from a holding facility, which was later found to have all its inhabitants sliced. No evidence remained to prove who did it. At the age of eight, while in suspected residence on planet Honshu, a serial killing event took place in her area. The same lack of evidence was observed on all victims and the suspect.
An officer died, sliced in half whilst escorting this character to the orphanage in the area. No evidence was left, but eye witnesses claim that the suspect had killed the officer in cold blood.
A sting operation was attempted. A team of urban assault experts and a single assasin were called in by the Kusari police to kill the target. The operation was a complete failure. All men but the assassin died. The survivor has since been admitted to a mental rehabilitation facility. He claims that the laser shots disintegrated at they hit the skin of the target, and that any person who got within close range burst open with no signs of what caused it.
Target is currently on the run, suspected to be in Bretonia aiding her family in their endevours. Target seen numerous times around the trading ship "Unseelie".
Notes on Physique:
Can take alot of Physical pain, as a child she endured slavery with no scars sustained.
Has strange protrusions on her head, much like horns. Confirmed to be made of bone and merged with the skull of the suspect.
DNA scan shows alterations not consistent with Cardimine affects.
Has a massively enlarged Pineal gland in the frontal lobe of the brain. Enzymes are very active in this area.
Notes on Mental state:
Disturbed by the events of her past, it is suspected that she kills as revenge.
She appears to hate all humans except the GC, who she treats as her only family.

Joined the orphanage at the age of seven (7).
Term fulfilled: One (1) year and five (5) months.
Notes:
Mariko was only ever active at the eve of the day. She enjoyed the night alot more than the day, and spent hours of her life staring up at the skies of Honshu. Nothing made her happier than the taste of ice cream. No one socialised with her, and she socialised with no one.
She joined the Orphanage as a Cardimine addict. She requires only small doses of the substance, and can go a long period of time without it. However, a preliminary DNA scan showed none of the alterations usually caused by the substance. There were many alterations in her overall DNA structure though, with the addition of a nitrogen atom at the end of every DNA pair. This is theoretically impossible, and certainly rules out the possibility that she was genetically engineered.
At the start of her only school year on record, she performed near the top of the class. Despite her hinderance of only one year of school, she became very adept, especially in Biology. In her free time during the day, she read many books on the human anatomy and could identify every major and most minor organs and processes that took place in every stage of life. She became especially intrigued with a formation in a cell called a "lysosome", which is a self suicide mechanism for a cell, which contains very powerful digestive enzymes.
During her school year, there were three fatalities at the school she attended. All three were male, and all three were known to taunt Mariko. The case, however, was never solved. No blood was found on Mariko's person. Stunningly, perhaps, she seemed indifferent to their passing, almost as if it was a good event.
In terms of strength, Mariko is extremely weak, and was almost wheelchair-bound before she came into the custody of this Orphanage. In terms of resilience to physical attacks though, the results are stunning. Her bone has the tensile strength of tungsten-steel, and her skull can withstand a direct hit from infantry combat ordinance. However, these are computer generated results, and have yet to be proven.
Mariko is, I conclude, a danger to society as a whole. She is indifferent to killing, and it should take alot to kill her. Her past is also suspect. All the killing that she has seen has motivated her to find out as much about human biology as possible. She wants to know everything about us biologically, it seems. I suspect she is supressing her true feelings of humanity. In fact, I would go far as to say she is a born killer.

Current age: Fourteen (14)
Parents/Guardians: One (1) registered. Juno Kietan.
This case is an oddity. Juno Kietan is the only registered guardian of Mariko Kietan (Kiku), out of necessity rather than love. It was more a case of Mariko choosing Juno, than the other way around. More information can be found in the custody papers submitted to the guardian's office on Ainu.
When Mariko came into our custody at the age of twelve, she was a complete lunatic. On board the transport that she had managed to pilot, somehow, to Ainu, there were supposedly 57 people. All lay dead in parts of the transport. Many body parts were strewn across the floors of the transport, and Mariko was the only one alive on the ship. When asked what had happened, she replied in a joyful tone:
"It was too noisy!"
No fingerprints were detected. Only the mentality of Mariko told us that she did it. She seemed to enjoy it.
She allowed us to examine her physique. Mariko appeared very slim and weak, and could lift only a maximum of 12.7 kilos with both her arms. However, a further analysis of her interior told a different story. All her teeth were normal, but the two molars at the rear of her mouth. These appeared to have severely sharpened edges, without the scratch marks associated with artificial sharpening of teeth. This apparently organic phenomenon was only the tip of the iceberg.
Her bones were almost unbreakable when the information gathered was put into a simulator. Her skull, and odd formations on her head could withstand a direct shot from an anti-tank rifle if the round was fired from more than 23 meters away. Any glancing shot from this ammunition could be deflected by her skull at a range of four meters. It is worth noting that her skull has not yet finished fusing together, so the strength of this is likely to increase as she grows.
It was also found that Mariko had an advanced set of extra muscles in her eyes, which could change the shape of her Iris'. The usefulness of this particular attribute is unknown. Her brain was also altered in such a way that the majority of the frontal lobe was replaced by a massive pineal gland, which had enzymes about four times more effective than those usually found in a normal pineal gland. As a result, two new subsidiary lobes have formed around the pineal, which appear to still be under construction. Nervous development is constant in this area, with new links to the pineal forming every day.
Targets in the training room have all been obliterated, sliced or in some way mutilated in the presence of this girl. All the damage happens to the targets at a range of 18 metres or less. This appears to be the range of her attacks, which are completely invisible and unknown to us. Mariko also knows the anatomy of the human body, and continues to study when not being examined. The accuracy of her attacks on certain areas of the targets have become more precise, the more she studies, particularly in the fatal or painful areas of the body. She also targets nerve nodes in the body, which when damaged, the target would experience completely excruciating pain before shortly perishing.
To see this is shocking, especially from a fourteen year old girl. Whats more, she was giggling as the targets fell apart in front of her, but also complaining that she wanted live targets. For more information, look at the combat results in the combat simulation database located on this station.
This creature, Mariko, is to be treated with extreme caution at all times. She gives no warning as to when she kills, as one of our more arrogant sisters found out. Approach only after clear warning of your advance has been given, and do not startle, or risk your life.

Notes:
Age: Fourteen (14).
Last checkup: 17th September, 816 A.S (her birthday).
Previous check's: Five (5).
Throughout her stay on Ainu, she had always displayed great prowess in military training activities. However, Mariko was, and still is, very emotionally fragile. She may have powers beyond our wildest dreams, but when it comes to emotional stability, Mariko lacks any at all. On the outside, she seems to be stable, and the trained eye can't tell differently. However, under close observation, it is clear that she has severe mental problems on an emotional level.
When her brain activity is observed during or immediately after a long training session, the following physical changes are observed:
New cells form in the spinal cord of the patient. It has been observed that these cells contain a large amount of smooth endoplasmic reticulum around the nucleus, used for the production of hormones. These cells soon die, but the hormones produced appear to stimulate the growth of the connections from the two subsidiary lobes around her pineal gland to the pineal gland itself.
Activity of mitochondria in the cells of the two subsidiary lobes of the brain increases dramatically. This can be due to the hormones secreted by the temporary cells in the spinal cord of the patient. This increased activity specifically suppresses Mariko's emotions, and it has been recorded every instance after a long training session.
Activity of all areas of the brain except memory, movement and sight are almost non existent during a long training session. This appears to take a massive toll on Mariko's body, and she needs a lot of rest after a session such as this.
Her emotions mostly dictate what she does. Emotional analyzing is almost impossible because of the different arrangement of her brain, but it is clear that she acts as if she is still a toddler. Her skills haven't suffered because of this, but her maturity is simply not there. Also, there seems to be a problem in her reproductive system, which is beyond repair. This means that she will not be able to reproduce in her life, unless her body repairs it itself, which is improbable at best.
A simple glance at Mariko by a person who does not know her, makes them think that she is helplessly innocent. This isn't the case, as a memory scan of her shows that most people who did this to her when she was on Honshu met their end some time in the same day.
The memory scan also tells us that she had a very troubled past, which helped her power to grow, as well as making her happy to kill anything and everything human that she sees. Her past is one of the most horrendous that we have seen, and many times she channels her anger and frustration of her past into her activities in training.
Oddly, she doesn't like to kill animals; in fact, she is intrigued and excited whenever she goes to the Zoo display on deck 12.

Close combat military ground operations: Sixty-six (66)

Military operations completed: Four (4).
Military records/notes:
Mariko has shown exemplary skill in close combat, or rather, combat within 18 meters of her person. Everything she identifies as a target is destroyed or maimed badly. Words cannot describe how fast multiple targets are annihilated by Mariko. All targets are destroyed in a matter of seconds.
Analysis on her invisible weapons indicate that they are each very strong, and it is estimated that she has around 30 entities that she controls fully. The ranges and strengths of these differ, but the mean range is 13 meters, with a maximum of 18 meters. None of the arms are too weak to pierce normal human bone.
All training missions were passed with near perfect outcomes, and in a lot shorter times than any other person. However, "friendly fire" if you can call it that, is a problem. She obliterates all potential targets in the training hall, regardless of whether they are simulating terrorists, infants or women. She has no discretion to what target she destroys at all; they all perish in the simulation regardless.
On her last military mission, she was instructed to target a high ranking military official for death. However, the target never showed up at the location of the operation. Despite this, Mariko slaughtered all the Kusari citizens in the area without mercy, sparing no one. About one hundred people were left dead, dismembered or completely exploded. One horrifying picture is below, as a reference.
This operation was a complete failure, and Mariko has not been given missions that would take place in heavily populated areas since then.
She is getting extremely agitated, possibly at the lack of killing in recent weeks. Speaking as a soldier, I find this horrifying. Even if it is our job to kill, and I do so willingly, I do not enjoy torturing people. However, Mariko plays with them, almost as if she is ripping the wings off an insect.
As a raw killing machine, Mariko cannot be stopped by anything less than an armoured division of an army. All infantry ammunition that is shot at her has no effect, where a similar shot would kill a normal human. If given the job of killing everyone in any part of Sirius, I have no doubt that she would perform this action not only dutifully, but with an infinite sense of pleasure. This is the only thing that Mariko truly enjoys; killing.
As a strategic tool, she is useless. Once she starts killing, the only way she stops is if there are no targets left in her range. She takes orders when they suit her, or when she is bored (that is, not killing or not at the Zoo display).
I would do everything in my power to confine this monster, or kill her in the depth of space. However, I doubt we could even get her on to a ship against her will without all the crew being slaughtered. There is no clear solution.
She is a killer, a born assassin. Its almost as if her sole purpose in life is the extinction of humans.
Sickness' recorded: Eighty-four (84).
Average length of sickness': Three (3) days each.
Whilst Mariko's abilities and physical resilience to material ordinance is astounding, breathtaking and horrifying at the same time, she has lost a lot of human resilience to disease, infection and treatment. Her biological system is very weak, and she struggles against virus' such as the common cold. However, she never comes close to dieing. All her crucial processes stay the same except for one. Mariko finds it very hard to train when she is ill, even though her interior shows little change. The activities of her pineal gland during an illness decreases dramatically, and we doctors theorise that her pineal gland controls her powers. However, the gland has a different structure to a normal pineal, and is quite immune to traditional forms of treatment.
Upon further analysis of Mariko's blood, it appears that she has a lot more lymphocyte white blood cells than phagocytes. The strategy of her immune system is also different. In a normal human immune system, the lymphocytes simply produce an antibody that clumps the harmful invaders together for the phagocytes to digest when they arrive. However, in Mariko, the lymphocytes produce a different type of antibody, directing harmful bacteria and virus' to non-essential parts of her body. The phagocytes then concentrate in that area as the harmful organisms arrive, and digest them by smothering them, such as an amoeba would do to a source of food.
The way Mariko's body deals with infections is astounding. It trades off efficiency for dealing with quick destroying of invading organisms for the reliability of being able to destroy everything after a period of time. However, the main drawback of this is that she is not very active, and she is very slim. Lately, she has been moved into a clean containment room, to analyse the possibility of her immune system weakening after not dealing with any invaders. So far, no change has been recorded.
Samples of her blood have been taken, and it has been found to have a different composition and pH balance to normal blood. A normal human has blood that is about 7.05 on the pH scale, just on the acidic side of neutral. However, Mariko has heavily alkaline blood. about 11.42 on the pH scale. Such alkalinity is enough to dissolve aluminium, but the walls of her blood transmission vessels have a thin but dense wax lineing, which is proportionally permeable to any substance with a default pH of 8.22 or below. This enables water, oxygen and soluble nutrients to enter the blood.
Also, while normal humans store lipids as fats, Mariko's body stores them as oils. This explains how thin she is, while still having enough energy for training sessions and other menial activites. On top of all this, the amount of blood she has in her body is estimated to be up to two more pints than in a normal human. This explains why the oil produced is not stored under her skin, like fats are in a normal human.
An in depth DNA scan of Mariko reveals a very intriguing fact. Not only do all the pairs have an extra nitrogen atom attached to them, but the first "pair" is actually a triple, as is the last. Both consist of Astatine, Cytosine and Thymine. This is very disturbing, but on a molecular level, the nitrogen on the beginning and end of a DNA double-helix strand alter the binding properties of these three chemicals, allowing the formation of the two triples.
There are many more oddities in her DNA structure (one which includes the shape of the DNA itself) not recorded here. See the file: DNA scan in depth; for the information on Mariko's DNA structure.

Contrary to her performance on the ground and in close combat, Mariko is a distinctly average fighter pilot. The one thing she has going for her is the fact that she can adapt to different tactics used by enemy pilots. In all other respects, she isn't really that distinctive in a cockpit. Her special abilities that she possesses, she uses to combat the G-forces that she experiences in hard turns, control the ship and use all the controls on the control panel. She is too short to reach the pedals in the foot well of an Eagle, and her physical arms are too weak to pull back or push forward the throttle, let alone control the joystick.
She scores averagely in most duel simulations, but scores poorly in teamwork simulations. She simply refuses to listen to orders to target specific ship(s) and does whatever she feels like doing. She is more a liability in space than an asset. However, in a single observed event when a person known as Juno Keitan was watching Mariko in training, she passed with 96 percent overall marks. A big jump from the 67 percent average she was scoring before then.
Mariko has since stayed with Juno out of her own choice rather than Juno's. I have observed that Mariko does everything in her power to impress, make happy, or otherwise fulfill Juno's every request, order and instruction. Why she has attached herself to Juno, nobody knows, but it just happened. She also refers to Juno as "mama". It appears that Juno, in Mariko's mind, is her mother. At seventeen, Juno is almost certainly not the genetic mother of Mariko. It is something that only Mariko can explain, but its looks instinctive.
In proper space combat, against Kusari naval and police pilots, Mariko doesn't take her time. She does her job, with noticeably more efficiency than when in training. This could have something to do with the fact that Mariko simply likes to kill, but she doesn't really concern herself with fighting voluntarily, as she prefers ground combat. She has been forced to eject before, but has not been around any of us when she has. If she would have done so near us, she would have been killed straight away. Her last failure was in Cambridge, where she was picked up after losing her fighter to a Corsair, whilst making him lose his own. The emotional distress of Mariko as she apologized relentlessly to Juno was astounding.
As a summary, Mariko may be a killing machine on the ground, but in the air, she is just another pilot. But then again, she is just a few months past her fourteenth birthday.

Due to the different configuration of the subject’s brain compared to a normal human, only tiny fragments of her life could be observed. This resulted in a muddle of images that make little sense. However, the images have since been put into a suspected chronological order, and are ready for display. As a note, some memories are viewed from the third person, as they are constructed from the subject's view, and then converted. This is a measure to prove that the memories are hers, and not a fake implanted one. However, some others cannot be constructed in this way and have to be viewed in the first person. These include, but are not limited to, dreams that have been recorded.
The area scanned is a very small compact packet of nerves storing information. It appears that this is linked to the rest of the brain by only a few hundred relay cells, so getting the subject to remember her past on her own proved impossible.
Here are the pictures, with a small addendum, describing each one, and the time that the picture represents in the subjects lifespan.
This shows the subject at her third birthday, with a character supposedly a close relative, such as her mother or aunt. This is the earliest picture we could date. There is nothing further back in her life that we could uncover. The degradation of the picture means that we had to greatly enhance the contrast to get any results. There is also no background, for the reason that the information wasn't stored in the part of her brain scanned. ESSENTIAL NOTE: The lack of horns on her head at this age suggests that they had not grown enough to get through the thick head of hair the subject seems to have possessed at this age.
This shows an outing with the subject's uncle or father, the destination is unknown. Observe the ribbons covering the part of the subject's head where her horns should be. The dating of this picture is when the subject was about three years and five months old. There is nothing else to note.
The last picture shows the last piece of information we could retrieve about the subject before she got abducted. The subject appears to be heading to an educational facility in the area. Note again the presence of the ribbons, and the small sac. It is unclear what is contained in this sac. It could be cardimine, but then again it could be some pocket money. This was taken soon after the subject's fourth birthday.
Please excuse the size, the resolution could not be decreased otherwise massive degradation of the picture would have taken place. The magnification couldn't be increased for the same reasons.
These are the only three pictures that could be obtained before the subject was abducted after her fourth birthday. The rest of the memories are more spread out through the subject's life. As these are more recent, more information could be recovered and the pictures appear clearer.
This is a picture from the subject's time in a slave camp. Supposedly this is a picture of the slaver's will being enforced. Observe the shape of a boot present holding down her head. It's obvious that the subject hadn't developed her powers sufficiently at this point to defend herself. Slight picture degradation can be observed.
Shortly afterwards, this picture was recorded:
It is unclear who the figure is in this memory. This is definitely one of the subject's dreams (or nightmares). The date for this memory is just before her escape from the slavers she was being held by. The possibility that this nightmare triggered her powers is very high. Fragments of the dream were recorded, which seem to indicate that the nightmare was trying to convince her to "kill everyone". Obviously, it was very persuasive.
The next picture indicates the fate of the assault team who were tasked with killing her. The figure in the picture appears to be still alive, and in shock. From the visual analysis of the picture, it can be told that this man did not survive very long.
As can be seen, full body armour proved no problem for the subject to penetrate. The "vectors", which have been named as her powers, have penetrated full infantry armour, both front and rear, with the sad loss of what was in between. No other memories have been preserved of this incident.
In this next picture, it appears that the "vectors" are actually hands, invisible and, without proof, have to be assumed to be invincible. The red mark on the victims clothing indicates the shape of the vector, which has been highlighted artificially.
This shows a "vector" as we have come to call them. It is a name in progress. The figure shown was not hurt, for some reason which is indecipherable to us. These are all that could be extracted from the subject's brain.
The vectors themselves appear to be able to penetrate all infantry armour, and light metal armour aswell. They can also be used to grab things, such as with normal arms, and can apparently be controlled with precision as well as speed. A full analysis on this phenomenon is impossible, as we do not even know where to start.
Scientific research on Marikos vectors indicates a quaternary hormonal structure within her body, surrounding the all vertebrae in the spine and neck. This network originates from the enlarged pineal gland detailed in earlier documents.
The structure is very hard to detect, and could have been easily dismissed in previous body scans as sporadic cellulose deposits. However, it appears that the cells that make up the formations in her back hold the key to her power. These are in between muscle layers in her back, so it is more than likely that Mariko does not feel their presence in a biological sense.
The cells on the outside of this structure are similar to plant cells, only missing the chloroplasts. The primary vacuole contains a large volume of oil, the primary energy storage used by Marikos body. There are also many mitochondria in each cell, full of oil droplets and carbohydrate granules ready to be broken down. It is also found that the inner lining of these formations, nicknamed pouches, of these cells have a large amount of microvilli, which have a high concentration of transport protein embedded in their membrane. This kind of transport protein, it seems, is for the transport of ATP to the enzymes that are made in her enlarged Pineal.
There are a series of valves at the entrance to each of her pouches which prevent enzymes and ATP from proceeding up to her pineal gland. Mariko possesses about fifty so-called pouches (name in progress), but around twenty appear negligible in size. That is to say, they have a volume of less than 1.5 cm3. However, when Mariko uses her abilities, they all become very active. The vacuoles used to store the oil quickly empty, which is another reason Marikos metabolism is so high.
When Mariko uses her abilities, an alignment of isotopes of various elements is produced by the breakdown of ATP in each pouch. These molecules are forced together by the formation of ATP in the wall of cells surrounding the pouches. The nuclei formed would be highly unstable, as they have an average charge of minus twenty-two. However, the internal forces produced by the walls of the pouches appear to be enough to stabilise these molecules and compress them. The isotopes of phosphorus align initially into a tight mesh, which changes shape according to the actions that Mariko performs.
The alignment of the highly negatively charged isotopes in her body is not enough to destabilise her entire bodily cell structure, as the electrons of other atoms, inside and outside of her body, are pushed towards their respective nuclei, which push back with a stronger force, retaining equilibrium. There is also organic magnetic shielding around the majority of each pouch, only allowing a single pole of the magnetic fields produced to exit her body via her back. The charges produced by these pouches align positively charged ions outside of her body. These range from water (neutral, but with a polarised head) to weapons grade plutonium (heavy, but still polarised. The radioactive decay also helps boost the number of ions she can control).
Mariko also has many nerves extending from the two subsidiary lobes around the pineal gland to each pouch in her back. These send strong electrical signals to the pouches, instructing them to change their properties in some way or another. The electrical signals pass through the holding medium of the pouches, which conducts slightly, and this itself alters the shape of the isotopes within each of her pouches.
An example is given; Mariko is being shot by metal slugs and energy lasers at a range of fifteen metres. The negligible pouches within her back are instructed by her brain to change the balanced mesh shape to a cylindrical shape. This attracts free ions outside her body instantly to the position that her brain directs, variable to the position and complete shape of the newly formed mesh.
A shield of ions is formed locally around the point of impact. The metal slugs are deflected or stopped completely by this. The containment around the laser beams disintegrate and then energy discharges into the newly formed ion shield. The subsidiary lobes then stop instructing the change in shape of the ions, so the default meshes reform, disabling the localised shield.
The concept of her protection is very much based on that of an infinite shield. That is, a shield deriving its power from the ions floating around in the atmospheres of all planets and radiation of all suns. Similar in very many ways to the molecular shields produced today, the barrier type ones in particular, only, these have an unknown integrity.
How she attacks is based on the same concept, only a warping of her shield.
The larger, more substantial pouches in Marikos back compress the ions that fall under their control into a nanometre-thick chain, and are forced in a particular direction through a target. This cuts a target with relative ease, as the thinness and strength of the chain can cut through individual organelles within a cell, as well as the rest of the body. Almost like an invisible blade, that is so thin and so strong, that you cannot see it, and it can pierce almost anything.
Mariko can also handle things with her control of localised magnetism. The isotopes in her pouches are instructed to realign again, this time into a loose formation. This enables a weaker, thicker layer of foreign ions to be formed, which happens to be in the shape of a generic hand; four fingers and an opposable thumb. The forces Mariko applies base themselves off the ancient principle of recoil, which means Mariko can lift off her body by repelling herself from the ground.
No alterations by current technology could produce this effect, as far as I am aware. There is always the possibility of human intervention in Marikos creation, but I highly doubt that. Besides, she has an added instinct, which is very undesirable to all humans.
However, back to the point; there is a paradox here. How can Mariko attack forwards when the vectors originate from her back? Let me explain:
A chain of ions is formed from the meshes inside their respective pouches all the way to the shields formed at the edge of each pouchs range. The range differs from a mere fourty centimetres, to around 25 metres. The chain is only a single ion thick, and is responsible for transferring all her power to the organic shields that she generates. However, the forces attracting these ions together are rather large, so the ions simply roll across other atoms that get in their way. Even the strong nuclear force of most atoms isnt enough to break the link. They do not cut. This is because they are less than a nanometre thick, and therefore simply pass straight through molecular structures, unless they are dense and thick, such as thick steel plate or a block of uranium or gold.
The ions also have their own magnetic fields, and if the area is sprayed with charged particles, the chains become visible. This is because the charged particles align with the magnetic fields, and this gives the impression that they are arms. However, this isnt the case, only an interesting by-product of Marikos abilities
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Marikos two subsidiary lobes are detached from constant control from Mariko. She has to think to use them. This means, that if she is in excruciating pain, or her attention is sufficiently detached, she will not be able to use her abilities and they will remain dormant. This is her weakness.
However, the subsidiary lobes have an optimised network of nervous relay cells, which is explained by her high salt tolerance. When Mariko uses her abilities, these enable her to decrease her reaction times from the average 0.2 or so of an average human to around 0.000004 of a second. This is a startling decrease, and explains how she can react fast enough to absorb, deflect and stop dense slugs and energy rounds from harming her.
NOTE: This does not apply to other actions, such as physical movement. Her actions are still subject to the delay of a normal human when they do not include the usage of her vectors. It is complicated to explain, but consider her two subsidiary lobes and the rest of her brain disconnected unless manually connected by Mariko consciously. This is similar to breathing in a sense. An average human can manually control his or her breathing. The difference is, Marikos powers arent automatic, where breathing is.
There is also another weakness, which could also be considered a future strength. Marikos vectors cannot deflect sufficiently an anti-tank rifle round from point blank range (sample from virtual tests, .50 calibre round). There are three problems though;
No one would be able to get within that range before being slaughtered.
Mariko could easily pile up her vectors, one behind another, to almost stop the round before it simply giving her a graze.
Mariko is still growing, the pouches that hold the enzyme and products of ATP are also still growing, as are her subsidiary lobes around her pineal. This means that her reactions when faced with close combat will likely only get better, and her abilities stronger.
Mariko controls her powers by using an organic ionic shield generator, which is inside her back in thin formations called pouches. These can combine to produce a shield all around Mariko, as well as just produce a shield around Mariko herself.
Why Mariko has been granted her abilities, I can only speculate on. However, she is different to us biologically. Her cell makeup is different, her personality is subject to very swift change, and she acts as if she was five or so. All the information I could decipher on her condition I have. The quarternary structure involving hormones, enzymes and nervous impulses is a very odd one, but is explained by current physics.
As a summary, if this report has bored the reader somewhat.
Mariko controls things around her, and deflects general ordinance, using an ionic shield, which is created locally upon the point of impact. Point of impact can include projectiles attempting to pierce her body, or her ionic shield slicing through her targets.
Mariko has a quarternary structure based on cells which look to have been pilfered from genes from plants, as well as those whose only job is to produce ATP from oils and carbohydrates. This enables her to charge isotopes of phosphorus inside her pouches very highly to form a magnetic field, localised by the very efficient partial magnetic shielding of each pouch.
Mariko, when she uses her abilities, experiences a heightened sense of awareness due to a massive decrease in her reaction time (not applicable to physical movements of her body, only to those of her vectors). This enables her to absorb or deflect aggressive ordinance almost instantly.
It appears that the loss of her frontal lobe to the enlarged Pineal gland has greatly hindered Marikos mental development. It is doubtful whether she will ever mature or grow away from her parent. Only time will tell, but this appears to be the area which Mariko has suffered in, in exchange for her abilities.
This is all the notes I have made on the vectors and how they work, without the molecular structure diagrams that I would need to explain in further depth this phenomenon.
