Just to make life simpler -

Today the basic Bounty Hunters Guild has now officially split from the Bounty Hunters Guild Core, so that these two organizations are once again seperate factions. What that means from an RP perspective is that house hunters are once again house hunters (including border worlds, like Omega-3 or Cortez, for example, and the Core war fleets will be the self-righteous and obnoxious Crusaders that they once were.

Both of the factions still have many of the same shared ships, since both can fly anything smaller than an Orca. The BHG| retains ownership of Omega-56 and the production shipyards for the Guild Core there. The two faction leaders will peacefully work things out for sharing things, since both factions still have a lot of shared members.

Note that I said two faction leaders.

Dashiell is the new Guildmaster / Faction Leader for the BHG| house hunters. Montezuma is the new Guildmaster / Faction Leader for the Core. Effective today Max DeVirgo resigned as Guildmaster of the BHG| / BHG|Core.

That does NOT mean I personally am quitting Disco. (Sorry, Dusty, for raising your hopes there.)

I just have way too much Real Life to deal with for the next 6 months or so, and so rather than see things go to hell in a handbasket, I'm letting them have it.

EDIT: Please see my next post in this thread. Basically disregard the split stuff, at this time, the faction isn't splitting - again, due to RL.

Is this just a faction role thing or is there an rp element here?

I posted this earlier, as part of the rp element, if that's what you're referring to.

This is also a splitting of the RP of both factions. Dash is going to run the house hunters, and concentrate strictly on them. Monte is going to run the Core and focus strictly on them. Other than the obvious (that is, it's not the same people), we're basically back to the days of when Athenian ran the S/D and Tic ran the |Core.

I know Monte has been talking to the admin team about what he'll need to do, because I'm leaving it with the BHG| as the official faction and system owners. Core side would NOT be official unless the Admins rule that way.

So are you gonna go try to lolbuy Omicron 74 now?

Just checking. Not being mean but that was rather lulzy and I had trouble telling if you were serious.

And you're not official? So then who owns your bases? Can I openly support Order again?

No, I mean are you suggesting that the Core is no longer associated with the BHG beyond utilization of the ap line.

More or less correct. The core and the normal BHG are nothing alike, and it's about time they split up completely and grew their own identities. I suppose they'll still share a playerbase as many BHG| players also play Core.

if the admin team agrees - thats how it is i guess.

but maybe it really needs to be crystal clear:

which part is official? - which part is not... especially in the light of "one official faction / NPC faction" - there might be new upstarts that wish to have a chance to become official.

if the core disconnects completely from the BHG in terms of a faction, which links remain RP wise... after all.. the core cannot survive with one single delta base.

you wrote that there is still a friendly understanding and a shared use of facilities. the question remains - how far does that friendly understanding extend.

the next question is about the core ( not bhg core ) roleplay of the bhg core. - by the set lore, they seek nomad technology - and thats where it ends. - while an official faction can often bend such lore a little bit - an unofficial faction is usually bound to stick to the lore set by the dev team. - hence no more FR2 / FR5. in the past year - the core has somewhat extended its area of operations ( not territorial, but mostly concerning the interaction with other factions around ) ... there was the NAP, the limited war and some strange things with the nomads.

Then I'm confused. The only way the BHG Core exists is with the funding gleaned from the backs of the good men and women of the BHG. So what's the story there.

I would have thought a fair exchange. Nomad tech (or the possibility of it) in exchange for support?

Could that work?
