Homeworld Ships

Im a big fan of the game homeworld and have been looking all over the place for a TC mod that includes the whole fleet:P


I thought it would be kinda cool if the ones in this mod where fixed so that
1. Since the engine slits on most homeworld ships (Kushan ones specifically) are long and narrow, that there are more engine trails, instead of one in the center or two on either far side wich makes it look kinda ugly:(

2. It would be cool if the Kushan assault frigate was scaled up to be a capital ship, with its own default themed weaponry and turrets that look like the ones that are currently just glued onto the current model.
The ship has 4 turrets and 2 forward fireing plasma bomb launchers (located in those two black circles on the front) The mars flyer had its own weapons i thought having unique weapons for the homeworld ships would be cool.

3. Maybe a homeworld faction? with there own reputation bar and ID with unique ships and weapons.


I have a bunch of extracted homeworld sound effects that could be added to the weapons if you wanted.



heres a table of the ships and what weapons they could have.

weapon damage shown is to hull and is divided by 2 for shield damage.

Kushan Scout

2x Auto cannons:
Projectile effect: yellow photon projectiles
600 range
600 velocity
8.33 shots per second
130 damage

Kushan Heavy Fighter (Kushan Attack Bomber)

1x Plasma bomb launcher
projectile effect: bretonian sunrail
600 range
400 velocity
0.25 shots per second
7000 damage

Kushan Very Heavy Fighter (Kushan Defender)

This ship has been totally butchered lol, that arm sitting on the top of it is supposed to be one of three arms that are attached to it on those red colored areas on the surface, and the rotary gun thing stuck in its nose is supposed to be glued to the arms:(

3x High velocity guns
Projectile effect: yellow photon
700 range
900 velocity
0.50 shots per second
1500 damage

Kushan Freighter (Kushan Assault Frigate)

4x Massdriver turrets
Projectile effect: Kusari trade lane projectiles
600 range
500 velocity
0.5 shots per second

Projectile effect: Bretonian sunrail effect

400 velocity

a, don't think sounds are addable, our modders don't have source....
B, the new guns are an awefull lot of work, to revamp unfreelancer ships,
C, I believe Igiss said we wouldn't be replacing any ships,
D, No new factions, unless they have rock solid RP......
Homeworld ships, well....not much rp there....

Here, they are not 'Homeworld' ships, they are Freelancer ships ... Some may share the original names, but
they are in our universe, not another game one.
So please try to forget their origins, otherwise the Outcast Destroyer would actually be something entirely
different ... That is not going to happen while I'm here.
And not a lot of chance of a new 'imported' faction and ID I'm afraid, so the weapons are a mute point ...

i meant both a Kushan and Tiidan ID, both of them being at war with eachother.

but its not really important i suppose...



Edit: About the sounds, the mars flyer has its own sound effects, correct? why cant more be added?
I mean i got all the sounds right here on my computer in .wav format if they wanted them.

i forgot the post - but someone reskinned some homeworld designs. and wow - they suddenly looked much more the part of freelancer. their models are not really the problem - its their skin.

homeworld is a much more colourful game. colours like yellow and organge dominate in bright levels. the ships look like they are part of it well. freelancer is colourful, too - but not that much. colours like dark blue and dark green appear to dominate - sometimes brown and red. so the homeworld ships look a bit out of place when they come up with a white skin or blue/organge.

furthermore - they were designed so that a computer could draw hundreds of them without loosing too much speed. but freelancer is not a RTS and there are rarely more than a dozen ships on the screen. so thats why the homeworld ships lack detail.

if they were skinned appropriately they would still fit in. the lack of detail is no great issue. they style is OK. the fighters appear to be just a good size. the frigates ( kushan freighter ) are too small, but it works fine ( like igiss said ... the suns, planets and stations are too small either )

leaves the question who would want to reskin them. they are not too popular anyway - so we don t see too many of them around ( especially once we get original design bombers for the factions, there s no need to fly the one popular homeworld design anymore )

As Jinx said on the Homeworld ships, i mean really does anybody uses shipes exept taiidan bomber and Outcast Destroyer? I like homeworld universe, part II is good RTS, but maybe those fighters is not the place in FL universe?

Apears that bigger ships like Frigates or Cap ship can really blend well into FL.
But smaller ones needs re-modeling or re-skin in order to fit good in FL....

I absolutely love the Kushan freighter as a convoy raider. If Igiss would give it (and the turanic) a CD launcher it would be a beauty of a light pirate vessel.

The Marsflier is a vanilla ship. I'm almost certain.

Im quite certain the MarsFlyer is not a vanilla ship. Read its info card for one. Very un-vanilla, plus I used to play vanilla all the time before I discovered the wonderful world of modding, and I never saw such a ship.
