Liners - role play ships

Ok...few days ago i started to think about how "big bosses" in FL space fly to one place to another. Sure, they fly in Luxury liners, Armored transports, or maybe even in that dreadful "Kusari Liner"...

Well..when i think..thats never a good thing...but lest compare that to todays luxury car limousines...There are lots of them out there in all kinds of shapes, colors and made by various manufacturers.

Here we have two choices...compared to todays world...they would all travel in Mercedes only...

Also....i look at this release...and few others in the past...we added all kinds of ships..but never a Liner class..(and i totally ignore Kusari liner)

so my plan was to introduce new liner..the one that should have been in game from the start....Bretonian Royal Liner ...

I currently work on models textures and i will post first screenies here very soon...

Story that i imagined behind that ship would be something like this:

Bretonian Royal family issued first order for this ship type 200 years ago. Bretonian engineers in cooperation with Orbital spa and cruise constructed this ship after 10 years of hard work. Liner was first and only of its class, used only by royal family. For 100 years it was serving to the Royal family before it was docked on planet New London and turned into museum.
Today, 100 years later, Orbital spa and cruise in cooperation with Aegira and with Bretonian permission started to build those ships again for free market. For sale to extremely rich individuals or high level politicians.
Luxury liner may have modern shaped hull and excellent weapons array, but Royal liner in unmatched in amount of luxury that it provides for its owner. This ship is, indeed King among vessels.

I think this is a good idea. We could definitely use some more variants of the liner. It would be cool to see some more of these flying around. Good work! I can't wait to see what it will look like.

since i am too tired to full concentrate on texturing here are two pictures of half finished ship...




ship is spin off luxury liner..but i hope it looks older..like almost obsolete...i was going for oldtimer look...

that unskined part of the ship is imagined to be main part of the ship...VIP quarters...rest of the ship is meant for "servants", guards, guests...it even has one part that resembles the balcony...its not so clearly visible on pictures now...but it will be when i finish the skin...

for long time i tried to make proper front of the ship...and finally i made it like old predecessor of more agile, slick, modern lux liner...

this ship is trying to be old Rolls Royce...(i hope i got close to it)

also i am not sure about that red plates skin..i might go with gold on that one...textures need much work still

also, try making the front more circular, without the squared off base....it looks...ugly.

u think that is ugly....in original it is round..even more ugly...i am not pleased with front at all...it will pass trough some, lets say, changes :P

oh and i forgot...i think i made 12 weapon hard points, and it will be bigger then current liners...but...until i put it in the space i cant be sure how big...

also any ideas and feedback would be very good...i want this ship to be highlight of bretonian royalty

Doom, the original Luxury Liner has the series of swept plates on the top to give the impression of the 'old
style' cruise ship exhaust stacks. Could you add something similar to give it that feel once more ?

yes...i can use original ones, or build new ones if those don't fit...i will try that...

It looks good, and I like the idea...

But I think it needs to be smaller. A lot smaller. The regular Luxury Liner isn't used by rich VIPs to travel... It's used by lots of rich VIPs to travel at one time, in style. It's like the Titanic.

A ship that's owned and used for the personal travel of one rich or powerful person or family should be smaller, maybe the size of a largish gunboat, not a largish cruiser.
