THIS is exactly what I wanted to reply.

You roleplay a character, not a ship.

And a general reply:
  • All the mining factions depend on people who need money. => your approach would kill all "moneymaking" factions
  • Your approach would up the Capital Ship percentage a lot => harmful to gameplay imho
  • Progress (improving from one ship to the other) is important for long-time motivation.
  • I haven't seen many Caps that are "roleplayed" well. They are huge things that die fast when seriously engaged. And that is it.

I want,a,Jinkusu to RP a mobile freeport. I got captain, a few crew, ZoI (NOT lolcrons), actions, plans, but no ship.

I dont have even 100 mill to scrap together.

Means,i gotta money grind when I get on, and honestly, I can barely get on.

Either guve trading a,massive buff or nerf cap prices.

Which is exactly what I plan to do when I own this place.

All ships will cost zero credits, all weapons, shields...

The only thing that will cost money will be armor upgrades and other upgrades I plan on adding.

Its the characteristics of a roleplay server really, and if some people think instant gratification will cause people to become bored, then we dont want them here anyways because they werent here for the RP if they are dissatisfied so quickly.

Get an IMG cash cow character, mine with us, have fun doing coop play (mining, hauling, escorting), expand the number of players you know and that can help you in your further plans, earn money and get to where you want to be rather fast and - in the process - help mining factions to regain some momentum.

The moment you stop saying "I hate earning money, I want to be at the goal!", you can start having fun while earning money and moving towards that goal.

I tried to go and make money yesterday together with someone. Just a bit of trading. i figured I should perhaps buy a bigger transport, then I saw they were as expensive as a cruiser and figured that buying a bigger transport would only make it take longer than trying it with my 3200 cargo Big Dragon.

I sighed and logged off.

Give people infinite money?Oh yes,where is the roleplay in that.Forget about Mercenaries,traders and such.Forget about snubs.They will all get pwned by that RM battleship with OC IFF,Rogue ID,Order turrets and Zoner Turrets.Why not you just make people start with a BHG cruiser with civ ID?

Make people register their capships on the forums?Even worse.You think people actually give a damn?No, they don't care.Then what happens if somebody finds out that the capship is not registered?Sanctionlancer.

Roleplay server,exactly.Where would the roleplay of mercenaries,pirates,terrorists,all go if all they face is only caps?How would mercenaries survive against capital ships?How would a pirate or terrorist be able to take action if after 1minute of what they were doing,a cap drops out?How would mercenaries fulfil contracts which involve destroying a cruiser/battleship?What is the roleplay behind any of these?What is the roleplay behind every Tom,Dick and Harry being able to purchase a big fat LN dreadnought with a CAU 8 on top of it?What is the roleplay behind caps occupying every single bloody bit of the server just by sitting around?Where would roleplaying to get tech from other factions go?Down into a wormhole or something.No need to get other guns/ships,you are gonna die in a minute to some bloody cap in your snub/frieghter.Unless you have a cap,which you bloody well don't need from another faction.

Get rid of loltraders?Sure thing.Traders'll just rp around with a cargo hold full with a permanent load of some random stuff cuz they know that unless they sell it for a loss or for what they buy,they might crash their account with immense amounts of money.Yeah,and why sell for a loss?What's the roleplay behind buying a broom for $10 and selling it for $1?Or buying a broom for $10 but selling it for $10 exactly.Do you want your character to go back to his/her wife/husband and tell him/her: "Honey,I took a beating,I lost a lot of money/time today." ?

And how exactly is it in-RP to have, for example, your Kishiro-trader earn tons of money (which your trader in-RP doesn't, it will go to the companies and you get a salary, in-RP, but that is not even the point) for your Bretonia Battleship?

But see my friend,that does not really harm the roleplay environment.Whereas ten thousand caps in every system would,of course,prevent you from roleplaying as a pirate.No terrorists,no mercenaries,no pirates, no freelancers.But in the present situation?Lots of ways terrorists,mercenaries,pirates and freelancers can fit in.

There are also lots and lots of excuses for your character to be able to make a lot of money.You say companies.How about those independent traders?They are on their own.They make a lot of money but they need not pay anyone.You could always say,for example,that your character has a relative who is an independent trader who also helps you make money.Makes sense?Yes.Want to argue that if everybody did that,it would be chaotic?Well everything if overdone,will become chaotic.If everybody roleplayed a pirate.It would be chaotic.If everybody was a code dealer,it would be chaotic.Stocked full with codenames nobody would buy.

Only read the OP, not the other comments.

Anyway, I couldn't agree more. Said it in the past too: it's a game, one shouldn't have to work hard to be allowed to have fun.

However, sanctions would need to be "re-balanced". Finning guns and credits would mean nothing.

Other than that, this would be nice.

Also do note, that I owe nothing bigger than a gunboat at the moment, nor do I intend to buy anything in the near future, So, I'm not just posting here coz I'm too lazy to trade/mine :P

Considering half the posts here fell into the category I consider "Too Long", I only read the other half. To a certain extent.

Anyway. You see, I want to get an Aquilon to simply RP a Carrier/Freeport in the Omegas, since, due to the Coalition civil war, there are some pretty good "RPers" there.

So, I have my (awesome) Crane with 4500 cargo and am making about 20 million per trade run. I basically already have 220 million, so I guess I need about... another 260 million. Every trip takes about 30 minutes. If I'm lucky. So, that's six and a half hours of trading.
You may or may not have noticed, that that is a heck of a long time for someone who goes to school.

I usually even get the "trader's block" everytime I attempt to start a run, meaning I get bored before it even starts and unconsciously try stopping myself from logging on to my trader - sometimes violently.

So, please, somehow make it easier/faster for people to get a ship if they have proven that they are worthy of it. E.g (as mentioned before) by writing up a RP story for their ship / char and maybe having to request permission to get a capship (since these are the reason for lolminers and loltraders to exist)!
