Yesterday I bought a brand-new Barghest for my Rogue, and tried it out in a fight twice until now...

My strategy was, to shoot down the enemys shield with my EMP-Blasters, and then deliver a SNAC and a Nova torpedo...but...I didnt even bring their shields down...
I tried circling around them, but that wasn't a big problem for them...to evade their fire, I had to fly in a kind, which made it impossible to land Gun-Hits on their shields...Both fights ended badly for me...

Is it even possible to hurt anything else than a transport in a bomber, or is it me who's lacking skill?

Or basically, can someone give me advice in flying bombers?

Basically, everyone who can decently fly a fighter won't die to a bomber unless they make a mistake. Bombers aren't meant to fight fighters anyway...

If your opponent doesn't quite know how to maneuver in their fighters, or you get lucky, there's a chance to SNAC off fighters...but don't rely on that.

The Barghest is a beast when it comes to killing caps and transports, and that is its job, not killing fighters.

For fighters, use mines.
fly in a circle until they start following you, then minemineminemine.

Don't do that. If they've a CD, that is. But still, mine-spamming isn't effective if your opponent is skilled either.

Don't fight fighters in it, stay at Snac/Nova effective range when going against capital ships.

You could also bring another bomber buddy against battleships.

Bombers can fight fighters, but you need to do it right.

It is hard in any case. Your skill must exceed your opponent quite a bit.

Though with a supernova, luck CAN be a factor.

I've flown a Roc for a long time now.

Originally, I used two emps and two energies, as SNACing fighters is quite difficult, and novas are almost completely worthless against fighters.

Eventually, once I became more comfortable with using a snac, I lost the energy cannons in favor of all EMPs.

However, I also replaced screamers with Nukes, which has worked favorably thus far.

You'll always be at a disadvantage against a skilled fighter pilot, although using nukes against less experienced fighters is rather easy and works well.

Go to conn, and work on your SNAC aiming. Aside from relying on energy cannons (which are basically shotgun codes), there isn't much else you can do.

Expect to die a lot.

Barghest is possibly the worst choice of a bomber for killing fighters. One of the worst for sure. Ask Boss about that one. As for me, I was always relying on luck with SNAC when jousting in Pytho.

A bomber is a counter to gunboat class ships and up. Fighters are supposed to chew you up in a fight, so my advice is to flee when you get into a situation with a fighter since you have little chances of winning.

Only very skilled bomber pilots can win against fighters, if you're feeling lucky then by all means take on everything in your bomber.

You'll only really win if they try to joust you. Or they are flying something fat and slow like a spatial. I've never flown a barghest but I hear they are slow.

CDs can blow up mines. if you time it right you can use their own mines to kill them or get their shields down. At the very least you'll knock them back to regular thruster speed for a moment. Mapping my CDs to the spacebar was the best thing I've ever done.
