Hullo, there... I've got an idea for a *gasp* RP Event! If you didn't know that, you didn't read the title! Congratulations... Now you do. This will be on the RP server in Omicron Major (via Alien Jump Gate). Next...

I was thinking about a realistic battle. And the Alien Jump Gate system provides the perfect opportunity! This was mostly based off of the fact I'm tired of getting killed in like, six shots with no sport or amusement in the battle.

So, my propostion is this. We use the Alien JG system (Linked to Minor), which has a ground. Now, on this ground could be several bases, or un-shielded cap. ships. Participants would be divided into two (or several) teams. Each team with *gasp again* a base/cap ship! The cap. ships would be on the ground, so really a flat-bellied cap. ship, like a Battlestar would work best.

The goal of the game would be to eliminate the enemy's unshielded base/ship while protecting your own.

Oh, now here comes the fun part! The fighters would be unshielded too. Fighters would use Barragers and missiles, since the barragers are like chain guns... They sound like bullet-firing weapons at least... And missiles for obvious reasons... And ONLY Sunslayer/star killer torpedos... Anti-Matter is a tad... Unrealistic? Cap. ships/bases would be equipped with Missile turrets and flak turrets, representing base AA defenses.

No engine kill/outrageous space maneuvers. Just boost (Tab, not cruise!) up to full speed, engine kill, then continuously tap boost to remain at 200 speed. If you were going any slower, or, say... BACKWARDS; you'd fall out of the sky... Technically.

Now, most of us have been in Alien JG land. And most of us know that there is a huge trench system thing there. I was thinking that the bases could be placed on opposite sides of the trench... Maybe.

Also! Teams would have to be NPC faction based (except base, probably both would be Battlestars), since obviously, you wouldn't see an American flying a MiG over Japan. The Talon seems like a fair craft for one team. Not outrageously strong (armor wise), decent maneuverability (you wouldn't be able to turn a Starflier turn in an atmosphere anyways), and plenty of power to run the Barragers.

Okay, so if we all feel the need to use chain guns instead of Barragers, okay... But I don't see Tachyon fitting in with a realistic fight.

Alright! I think that's all... I reserve the right to edit anything. Now, I have an idea as to what you're all thinking. "Realistic fight? No shields? Gravity?! ATMOSPHERE?! That is so not FL"... Well neither is a mysterious planet floating over a ground with a magical Jump Gate way over head... In supposed space, might I add. It might as well be used for something other than cheap Nomad kills... They wont pose much threat. 10K armor can handle a few 200 damage hits. It'll make things interesting.

I realise a BS's armor would be really hard to take down with Barragers and SunSlayers, so I propose that we allow unlimited respawns into the battle until one team's base is destroyed... In which case that team is out. And in the case of a two-team 'game', then a victor would be named.

Okay, nutshelling!

Bases - Battlestars
Base Armaments - Flak Turrets, Missile Turrets

Planes/Fighters - Faction based, only 1-2 kinds... Bombers allowed ONLY if you use Sunslayers.
Planes/Fighters Armaments - Barragers (Maybe Chain guns, to-be-decided), Sunslayers
Planes/Fighters - PREFFERABLY all VHF's to acquaint the 9-10K armor and so everybody's maneuverability is fair... Still need another suggestion for a 9-10K armor VHF to oppose the Talon

Rules
1. Infinite respawns until base is destroyed
2. ONLY use weapons listed
3. NO ships above fighter
4. All fighters on one team must be almost the same (At least Faction wise, a Defender and another Lib. Ship would be okay.)
5. No engine killing to turn around, and speed the opposite direction, do outrageous stunts that you couldn't do in a Raptor, for instance; ON EARTH. Must keep consistant speed of 200 (ish) from continually tapping boost. Carpol tunnel warning.:P
6. To be determined...

Sounds like an interesting and fun idea to me.
It also sounds like this event is going to need some major league financial sponsors in order to set up all of the pilots. Maybe some of our super rich members of the community could "advertize" on the sidelines somehow in exchange for funding ship and weapons purchases.
The only major problem that I can foresee is that some people may have to cannibalize one of their pilots in order to bring one into this contest.
In order to more closely mimic the composition of combined forces that are used in real warfare, perhaps limits could be placed on the numbers of certain types of ships that can be flown.
For instance, 20% of each team has to be bombers and 80% fighters, and so on.

It does more sound like a PvP event than a RP event for me, but yeah, the idea is gorgeous. Would like to see that.

the UKMG flag ship is a bateel star and our standared fighter is the raven talon so if this event goes through admin apovel give us a shout and we are in

Kewl! So I'm 3 for 3 on positive opinions. It does need some refinement though... As for the Nomads! They're pretty much useless and wont pose much threat... Just add to the challenge!

Xoria's percentaging sounds fair. 80% fighters, 20% bombers. But to make this interesting, we're going to need quite a few people... And ALOT of money... Which I myself am rather short on at the moment.

Also, making a new character would be the best option... So we could name people like, "Blue 1" or "Order 4"... Something like that. Unless its a Faction Battle. In which case, no need... Just new ships I suppose. I'll edit my original post to have a roster of people who are interested... Not necessarily "in", but who are interested in joining... Since an admin hasn't said Yey or Ney.

The UKMG sound like good competitors... VHF... Raven Talon... 10K ish armor. AND they supply their own base! Excellent. If you can muster a good amount of your members, then I'll welcome you as a team. Saay... Eight of you guys?

I'm thinking ships with around a hull of 9-10K would be sufficient. Like a Talon. Enough to take the 200 damage Nomads, and enough to have a fun dogfight. Okay! You three, just edit your posts to tell me if you're interested. Others, post anew... Admins! Yey? Yay?! NAY?! Ney...?

Small flaw......that system spawns nomads, and without shield you are squidy food. Good concept though, but as said, this is better for the RP server.

The ones in Major are really weak... Just dodge Frances AA, gun down the Luftwaffe, and fly back home to Britain. Already thought about that. I did my homework.:P

Oh sweet! This is like so awesome! I congradulate you for taking the time to think of this!

However, the nomads to lie one of the problems. If they are attacking the 'base' then the base will be taking constant damage AND it will be getting knocked around so it wont be able to fight effectivly and it will look weird.

BTW, count me in.
