I've noticed that Discovery is pretty much something completely different when you compare it to 1.0. As a player finishing the campaign and then diving into Discovery it's quite a wonderful, surprising and confusing thing. Discovery has a timeline based around events that happened on the server and whatever the admins decided would happen officially.

It's confusing.

4.83 as far as I understand was a small spin off the original version. 4.84 was a larger transformation for the mod which qued all kinds of new factions and systems. 4.85 were seeing the face of sirius slightly twisted. KNF in Leeds, Embargos on pretty much every 'war zone' and Zoners making their own rules.

Is it too much to expect a new player to suddenly click and understand all this within hours of playing online? Only the thirty odd players who were around in the old days actually fully understand the events leading up to the present. And it seems as the face of the server is changing, it's going to be mostly benificial for them seeing as they tend to be the players with the most influence in the community aswell.

I'm not picking a fight, and i'm sorry if i've at all offended anyone. But is anyone else seeing this from my point of view?

Yep, I see what you mean.

Don't see it changing any time soon though...

In before Zoners. Oh, wait.

In truth, yes. But for the most part, we all go along with it. Adapt and enjoy, and try to avoid the forums.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

its not veering off - it is evolving and progressing the story. we use the facts we have, add some imagination and voila.

If that's not happening, I don't think we would have so much people still around.

You get bored of same old stuff sooner or later, progress and evolving is neccessary in my opinion.

As you can see, right now people are getting feed up with 4.85, to long time we are playin same old stuff, fighting same old battles, it loses it's charm, fun etc.

If Discovery after 3,4 years would be still the same as original Freelancer, what would the the point then of creating new mod for Freelancer.

I would like to remind you that 20 years have passed since the end of the Vanilla, 20 years is a lot of time, take WWI and WWII for example, 20 years between them, but the world was fundamentally different

as jameson always like to point out:

Roleplay is dynamic and so is the future.

And yes, 2 years with .85 was atleast one year too much...
