So unless you are looking for a very specific BS along the lines of Liberty Cruiser => fewer guns for a ship of it's size, smaller powercore etc, I'd say you should change it for a hangar or something like that.
I'll say this as one of the biggest cap-whores in Rheinand, and probably one of the people this thing is going to be shooting at.
The RMBS is a beast vs other caps. I personally wouldn't mind at all if you supercharged this thing. Put a med core on it, 14 turrets, and a forward gun. This thing should be build to eat RMBSs and legates. If its maneuverability is low enough, we could also get an interesting counterbalance where the smaller battleships, Ossie for sairs, and RM carrier for Rheinland, may be a good counter for this.
I would not at all mind seeing this thing become one of the 'extremes', a med battleship able to go toe to toe with the RMBS.
Considering the Battleships the Hessian Battleship is likely to be facing off against; a forward cannon probably isn't too practical. Think about it, to fire a forward cannon you have to be facing your target. Which means you're going to be flying towards it.
I'm no battleship expert, but it was my interpretation that any ship playing chicken with a Rheinland Battleturtle is going to get seriously messed up.
Well, the model was designed with the forward gun and looks cool with it. I don't figure we will be changing anything at this stage just to get a little pvp advantage:P
Anyway the rest is a matter of balance. It's an interesting idea to make it really slow to turn/strafe, but well armoured kind of like a mini RM BS. If there is any way to make such an approach balanced, then why not:P

Jut bouncing around ideas, but a FWD gun and the ossie's 60 mps backwards thrust might work nicely in tandem, especially as ashes points out: RMBS's sole purpose in life is to inspire other battleships to keep the night-light on when they go to bed at night. (Legate's ninja-strafe isnt something to be trifled with either)
to clarify something about the osiris reverse speed...
a reverse speed of 60 isn t of much use when you are FACING your enemy. - it is meant to keep a flexible distance while NOT facing your enemy.
a good osiris captain keeps a distance of around 2.5-3k from its enemy ( usually a marduk ) - and flies straight on. if the marduk charges cruise - the osiris will do the same. if the marduk goes into reverse - the osiris does the same - but reverses quicker at a greater speed, cause it ll take some seconds reaction for the osiris to notice that the enemy is reversing - hence getting the distance too great.
now - if you have a F-gun... you will be facing the enemy one way or another - and the reverse of 60 means nothing when your enemy charges you with 90ms. - your distance shrinks down inevitably.
an osiris like reverse works best - if the battleship had a REARWARDS cannon ( but while practical - what faction would build that.... it kinda comes about cowardly to build a battleship with all its weapons pointing backwards )
in short - forward cannons are good for BHG tactics... which can be summed up like that : CHARGE!!!
I dunno jinx.. using a liberty cruiser tactic might work nice.
Use the 60 speed to stall your enemy, lining up 3-4 shots with he FWD gun at 3.5-3k range.. once the range drops to 2.5k, turn around and bug out of there before you get too close.
forward guns work ESPECIALLY well in packs.. as the hostile can only face on direction.
the fwd gun tactic works with the lib cruiser because it turns faster than battleships as well, so i can start evading shots faster than a bs would be able to. a forward gun on this battleship would be next to useless given the fact that you'd spend more time trying to aim/evade fire than actually firing it. if this is to be a small/medium battleship, its better off giving it more turret firepower than focus on a forward gun.
