I read in a post somewhere in this forum or possibly it was during a conversation in game, that the NPC ships all have 'Infinite' Power Cores.
This certainly seems to be the case, as many time I have been flying along in one of my capital ships with a fighter following me, firing a seemingly never ending barrage of energy, which I *know* I wouldn't be able to match if I was flying the same ship.
I'm pretty sure if NPC ships do have the mythical 'Infinite' Power Core, there must be a reason for it, but the only one I can think of right now, is that the NPC's need that extra 'edge'.
Is there a reason for not being able to switch the NPC ships power cores to the same one's the players have to put up with, aside from the huge amount of work it would (might?) entail?
Note: I searched for another topic on this, really I did. Came up empty.
This is from vanilla, and I don't really know why it was done, but it doesn't really hurt. NPCs don't fire all their guns simultaneously, plus their guns are usually under the level of the highest class they can use anyway. So even with the ordinary core, they probably wouldn't run out of energy.

40% Freelancer game.
And it's not that hard to change the "infinite" NPC power cores to the standard ones we humans use:D
The only hard choice is whether or not to alter the ini for the power cores or to change the NPC vessels' outfit.
Either way, it's very doable.
NPC's need the power. They lack skill in flying, and shooting,so they just spam area with fire. Only times NPC's hurt is in packs,or in Gallia where that infinite power means lots of SNAC's. Right now NPC's are so bad i have explored 50% of sirius in a starflee without death. That includes Guard systems, and Gallia space. In a light you can dodge, and loose any NPC easy.

This may well be the case and if so, then why should they have/need an IPC? (Infinite Power Core)
On the other hand I have been in Alaska with my LABC (Excalibolg!) and the Order Nepthys getting around in there certainly seem to be chain firing their weapons at a ferocious rate, one that would that have any normal power core crying in pain.
Is there a chance that we might see NPC ships with the same power cores we use?
I'm thinking stationary (non flyable) ships and stations etc should keep their IPC's but all other ships should have/use the same Power Cores that the players have to put up with.
