Being head of public relations of 2 Liberty corporations, as well as being member of a 3rd and talking in a daily basis with a 4th, I would like to reply in this type of comments:
' Wrote:But hey, in the end it is up to Liberty to decide on its response.
Many (if not all) Liberty Corporations wanted the Republic of Liberty to make some in-RP responses to Kusari. In-RP this is called lobbying. However, the other party which exclusively RPs and uses the Republic of Liberty forum acc chose to ignore the embargo and it's following in-RP effects. The only response we had, was that Liberty will replace H-Fuel and keep the House and the fleet running with Deuterium from Planet Pecos. Ridiculous.
McNeo's posts in this thread clearly show how self-destructive Kusari was with this embargo. I happen to study economics too. And from what I read the most logical responce was " Go to hell " . Thus I believe the best way is to ignore it and move forward. Like it never happened.
So, I just made this post to clarify the above quote.
Economic theory is not based on opinion. Trying an 'its all relative' argument wont work here Zelot. Facts stand alone - whether or not we agree with them. To 'disagree' with basic economic theory simply makes one look silly - shows this whole situation to be the absurdity that it is.
The critical factor in the embargo is that FUEL was the target. It is a primary resource, from which all secondary products (ie: manufactured goods) flow. It deserved the highest level of attention and would guarantee the attention of any nation that had a fuel blockade imposed on it!
I say again - I have nothing against Kusari embargoing the oil persay. Ultimately it is the Liberty response that grates, as does the response of people trying to argue against basic economics.
Irp Liberty doesn't know about Pecos. That's why the rumors on the Armstrong indicate that IMG pilots occasionally take out some DSE patrols sometimes, they don't want Liberty muscling in on their so-far secret system and stealing all of their resources. This idea is completely OORP in thousands of ways.
I really don't care. The sale of arms that are used against your country will almost always elicit some kind of response. No one, not one person has every said, "Taking this other type of action might have been better" no one else has had any ideas except to ignore the fact the Liberty is supplying goods produced with Kusari components to Bretonia to kill Kusari citizens and soldiers. It required a response, we, the leadership of Kusari felt that this was actually a very measured response, and it was intended to end quickly with Liberty promising not to sell weapons and ships to Bretonia. Joe and I tried to negotiate the issue a bit, and I was willing to accept even that Liberty would only sell these things to Bretonia if they weren't used in Leeds. That was unacceptable to them. Somehow it was more important to Liberty to put ships and weapons into Leeds then to maintain their relationship with Kusari.
None of this is my fault, and honestly, I resent the amount of oorp hostility I have been getting over this and the GMG situation. Really, I do the best that I can. I am not an economist, I am not a world leader. I am someone who is trying to enjoy playing a game, where I play the role of a leader, and I try to enjoy thinking about what a real leader would do in my situation. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I get it wrong, but when I am yelled at for starting this, I get annoyed because I didn't, and when I get yelled at for declaring war on the GMG, I get annoyed, because I didn't, it was the GMG who decided to claim one of Samura's base as their own and start shooting ships going there. I tried to purse the path of peace, but got no results. In both situations, when there isn't someone on the other side who is willing to work things out, there really nothing I can do, and all the negative energy that is coming at me oorp is to say the least annoying.
So, if someone wants to make a suggestion on how to work this out fine, but I wont respond to any more comments oorp about the action that Kusari did take in these situations.
Edit: Just to be clear, that was not directed at Friday.

As for my side, I don't have any oorp hate and I hope my post didn't reflect any as well. I repeat that.
Also, I believe others should have replied as well (and not only you) since it was a joint decision. Anyway, I think I should go now.
So tell me, I ask for what must be the millionth time, what do you think would have been an appropriate response short of ignoring it? Please, you must be the hundreth person who wants to say how illogical it is without saying anything about what would have been logical. Hmm? How bout put up or shut up?
Well.. a House in a bloody and lengthy war (it's the 5th year now) has not many options. It needs all the resources it can obtain and it needs all it's products to be exported in many markets.
I am not willing to tell you what to do and I really regret that I replied in first place. I knew that we would have gone here.. But if you insist we can talk about this in skype. Why in skype? Read your exaggerated reply and you will find out.

I am somehow not surprised. Everyone wants to throw stones, no one wants to stand up and have an idea.
