It would have been more believable to send Liberty fleets to Bretonia to head off or slow down the Gallic onslaught than sending in the Xeno calvary!

If Liberty did have intel that Gallia were going to attack them next, then that is what they would do, rather than wait for the enemy to get to their border.

Somehow the Xeno's think of that, but the Liberty Navy doesn't?

Also to add, why would Gallia more or less tell Liberty they were the next target?
