Give me a Civilian IDed ship... I'll get my pvp fix even with that, without breaking any rules.
Issue is not the IDs, rules, or the RP... Issue is people flying around even if within those borders.
Or is it really an issue? It's a spaceship-shooter after all.
I don't really see problem with it, and I certainly don't want more limitations. One roleplays a pirate the way he wants. As for one of the previous posts, 15 millions for mining machinery...I don't see that as PvP abuse. Actually, that's more withing a pirate's roleplay than asking for 500k. Which is ironic, since it's what this whole topic is about. I guess it only applies when it fits what you (a generic kinda "you") want.
First, get along with the fact that most people here claim roleplaying. Bah, excuse for PVP. Id just get angry by going deeper into that. Basically, best way is to avoid the game entirely I would say. Everywhere you get silly stoopid people, be it random indies in Rhein, so called whatnot in Kusari, Sairs in Bretland or all of the lul in Liberty. Nowhere else is safe.
Also, do not attempt to compare Freelancer to anything that should be making sense. It just does not work. Balance, fair play and whatnot crap you gotta put up with > sense and ultimately > fun and roleplay.
Someone asked, what would lawfuls do if all pirates ran away. Heck, patrol? Roleplay with random people around? Why the frak is everybody so immersely focused on PVP only here?
I once tried roleplaying a pirate in Kusari. Just as I logged, it always took 15 minutes for different group to gank and destroy me, be it GMG whatnot lul, Kusari even worselul and others. One even PMed me if I am aware on how baaad I roleplayed by docking. Being completely new, people do not go "help", but shoot.
Frak that really, I agree with you Snake, but I know that nothing will happen to change this. The clicque is simply too strong.
What I do is dock and logoff, spitting random insults around. Most of the people aint even worth it , but for teh lul, ITS FUN! Mine at least.
LN comes, pirate ID'd player tells him to pay 2 million or he will be shot. So changing the ID won't change a thing. And most players who aren't in trader, don't pay the pirate.
Most of them don't considering how many people are flying around looking for fight.
I can also use an example of Primitive pirating a Spyglass. That won't change that generally that does not happen.
I've seen many pirate ID players jumping into fights with "engaging lawfuls". Pirate and AI ID are currently used as terrorist ID without ability to shoot transports on sight.
This isn't panzylancer, this game is not all about throwing elaborate tea parties while discussing points of contention in a civilized manner. The vast majority of content in this game is centered around fighting, there are more fighter, transport, gunboat, cruiser, and battle ship guns, fighters, gunboats, cruisers, and battle ships than there are ANYTHING else in the game.
If you want pure RP, stick to text. When you go in game in a place where you can be shot, you're doing so with the understanding that you can and WILL be shot.

Fighting is good. Especially if it has meaning. I just don't understand why is Terrorist ID so restricted.
The Joker has been successfully RPing a terrorist with Pirate ID for over a year.
