Obviously the rule change did affect fights a lot.

I think that denying ships the ability to trade or drop bots would significantly shorter group fights.

Another point if you remember is that say in start of 4.85 the server load was just slightly less than now and shieldrunning became close to impossible as fighter missiles would hit a ship doing that, so just slightly less load then we have now would result in the same.

They don't now?
The extremely heavy bombers and the extremely light bombers both can kill fighters easily past a certain threshold of skill, and using specific tactics.

ooRP argument: if ships are weaker it will no longer be survival of the fittest and of course cheapshotting will become a real hype

inRP argument: would you risk your life by flying a ship that can't even hold up after 1 hit of a nuclear mine? :rolleyes:

Cheapshotting, also know as Han shot first, is a completely valid tactic. I just use a bomber instead of a fighter, and the fittest already know that sitting still when a nuclear cannon is aimed at you is a bad idea.
And, in-rp, why would you use a nuclear mine that cant take out a fighter in one hit? Just build that stuff bigger.

I haven't died to a bomber in... months? Last death was from a Mafic if I remember correctly and it was back in the days when it was hip to shoot Zoners with a Corsair. So no, bombers don't own fighters, unless the fighter is a noob or a fluck or kapinos.exe with the SNAC.

My concern is that yes it takes far to long for fighter combat. I haven't really had a desire to take PvPing seriously enough for a long long time to try to actually kill anything. If I do, meh, If I don't, they better kill me. Some....can't do it for hours and yeah I just plan get bored.


I say, for nukes, just fine remember the AU8 is a fighter's best friend the ship it self cannot take a single nuke mine.

I say for fighter guns? Need to increase their collateral damage capacity.

I say for CAPS? We won't know the extent of the new combat system until 486 comes out. So no need to talk about it as of now.

I say for this thread? It seems to keep going on and on. But really don't see anything that suggests a course of action due to it's creation. Not the OP fault but a consideration that sometimes the community needs to be heard and this has been a concern for a LONG time.

Okay. Find me a bomber that has 55K base armor, which is bar none the lowest in the Gunship realm. And has a 140K Capacity shield, the standard in the Gunboat realm.

And an average pilot that uses his head won't die to a bomber unless the bomber pilot either gets lucky, or is a very good shot. Simply put, bombers are bigger, at least for the most part, are slower, and have trouble hitting hull. They may have more hull, but generally the more hull they have the slower they are. Although there are exceptions to this rule. Fighters, on the other hand, are much faster then bombers, -should- have no problem keeping out of the way of the Bombers guns, and still pack enough punch to take down any bomber with ease. Granted some bombers have extremely heavy armor, Fighters still have guns that gun do plenty of damage.

He's talking about the bomber's ability to take out a transport before the fighter can take out the bomber.

Well that. and OK, bhargest with uni8, waran with uni8, fafnir, uni8, spacial, uni8... with mk8 upgrades they have more than 55k armor. Also, i was referring to their regen ability, they in essense have about 100k+ armor due to regen amount.

Sidenote: i dogfight with my roc quite frequently, those guns pack one hell of a punch in close. ironically the only things that have downed my roc in 2 months are gunships with laggy pilots, fighters dident do much at all.
