About time they get bought by someone, they've started to get on my nerves lately with their useless program full of bugs.

I doubt they'll drop Mac/Linux/Android support on day 1, the updates will just never happen. Not that we got any regular updates with Skype for Linux anyway.

So, what alternatives are you guys planning on?

Row, row, fight the power! :3
Good idea, but it's Windows-only, which of course still has the M$ problem.

' Wrote:Maybe they can fix the Skypelag issue.
Skype is peer-to-peer. If Microsoft did release an update that reduced skypelag, it'd only get better if most of the clients/supernodes updated to it. A large number of people combined in Mac/Linux/Android/iOS will likely not get such an update.

only concern with me is whether they torpedo the crappy linux support.

[18:15:09] dragon_duck: Well, since they're both companies based in the US, they have the same non-transparent privacy policy anyway.

Yeah, I also don't like the idea of a piece of software running on my computer controlled by Microsoft that has the features that malware uses - obfuscation and anti-reverse engineering techniques.

Considering that they just paid $8.5Bn fo a company valued a $2.5Bn I would be seriously worried about the future of Skype Freeness.
