THAT hurts my immersion. Not 2 mil or dais.
thats a whole other gigantic can of worms - remind me to tell you how i think of immersion with starwars\homeworld ships in Disco - or that some characters are represented as anthro-beast-men...
Ok, back on topic...
Pirates huh. ive said alot about this - and here's what ive found out over my time...and its different then i thought...
Anyone who plays a pirate, will justify whatever rp they wish, even if it means being a total and complete jerk to you.
all of them are forgetting this...

0.0 Be excellent to one another. Consider the people around you. Keep fair play in mind. It's a game and nothing is gained, or lost, save the experience. Credits can be re-earned. Ammunition replenished. If you become infuriated step away. If you make a mistake apologize. If you wish to remain in system after you die, or after someone has moved away, simply ask.
Fair play, a level head and consideration for others.
c'mon guys - no one cares what your motivations as jerkus pirate's are - you may just ruin someones day by being a complete tosser, rp or no rp, in-character or not.
So yeah. lets all try and be nice to each other, and maybe work just a fraction of that into our rp with each other - and hopefully get less Q_Q about jerkus pirates and their jerkus players
You been here since '07 and you wish for us to believe that in that time you have never met a pirate that RPs and that all pirates need to learn how to RP? Does this also include you? Well I see no reason to believe your exaggeration. Lemme guess? You got blown up.
If you traders would RP, I'd RP. But you guys kinda just smash the Shift + W button, which is fully part of the trader's roleplay, and I agree with it. Both side roleplay their role very well. A mugger runs up to you and steals your cash, he won't explain how he fights a just cause or anything, he wanna get out of here before someone catches him. Of course, your reaction would be to either smash him in the face or run away!

ok?
I'm quite certain 0.0 refers to OOC behavior, not in-rp.
I would think a "nice" pirate would ruin my immersion more than a "jerkus"....we're roleplaying bad people who steal from innocent traders.
Being a jerk IS our rp, for the most part.
I find trader rp (which is usually ooc or non-existent) far worse than pirate rp most of the time....90% of them are power traders who don't even speak most of the time, and I take joy in introducing them to vacuum.
Remember, when you're pirated, you shouldn't feel like you just had a great conversation with someone at a bar, you should feel like a victim. You should feel like someone took something of yours and there is nothing you can do about it.

Eh, the sad part is you have a very good point - pirates are supposed to be pretty cutthroat. and your right, most traders dont want to be bothered, just want to move their cargo, get their money, and put that money toward more interesting characters (assuming they have any...) - a friend of mine got so bored doing regular runs to grind out money, he used to look forward to pirating just for the interaction.
In times ive run into pirates, ive both been lawful, and semi-unlawful, and rp'd every time. the only bad experience i ever had was being shot in the middle of my rp, because the guy didnt understand who my character was, or what i was trying to do. as a smuggler, most pirates leave me alone, or let me pass, and i pitch them a mil or so anyway. im nice like that.
Here's the crux of the matter - those of us on the other end of the gun, want to feel like were talking to an actual person, an actual character, not a player trying to grind money the wrong way, fulfilling the barest reason for rp-engagement to avoid a sanction.
those players here who play impatient cutthroat pirates just make themselves look like jerkus half-ass rp "2milordai" pirates, which are the majority.

You should feel vulnerable and violated.
which is fine from a character stand point - but we, as players, come to the game to have fun - as players, we shouldnt feel violated and angry - we come here to have fun. im getting too much of this "hey were pirates, were jerks, thats our rp, deal with it, cry some more, and if you dont like it, leave." which, from what i gather from Cannon and others, isnt the type of gaming environment they want to promote.
*shrug* but ive only been here a short time - and ive had few truly bad experiences with pirates - the ones that charge a mil or so, i pay - the ones that get uppity, charge all my cargo or outrageous amounts, i tell to piss off, because i know ill respawn at the base i picked my cargo up, not out that much money. if their gonna be jerks, i dont see why i gotta be nice and "roleplay" being afraid\cowardly\dead.
Role play is the act of fulfilling your characters given role. A pirates role is to take your loot, should you refuse to give them your loot they are to kill you. This is their role.
Asking them to not fulfill their role is idiotic and claiming that veterans are leaving Disco due to piracy is even more idiotic.
