I dont even know what to do with this thread. Do I lock it for the flaming, do I split it for the off-topicness, do I move it for its progressive irrelevance, or I delete because it's giving me a headache? This thread is a faction proposal. Not a ship discussion, not an encounter description, and not a general discussion. Get it back on topic and end the flaming or bad things will happen.

ON MY WAY OUT OF RETIREMENT
the marauder has a really messed up hitbox. ive hit a maruader with a nova( we were testing ships)
and it seemed to go straight through the ship and never even touch it. an this was when we were both still.
so imagine trying that when moving.
also, it really wouldnt hurt to use some of the other ships temporarily. the people are working on fixing it (from what i gather), so u should be able to use it once it sorted.
also, u may not know, but most of the clan factions DO tend to follow rules, both their clan rules and the general rules of disco.
eg: a Rm char uses adv delibs instead of colodas or even infernos. the 101st use only pure outcast ships and guns, ie: krackens and infernos.
even the names suit the RP for the char, [though id say u have the names part right] (like RM chars are somewhat german names, corsair/outcast are spanish names etc)
the people who come under ure described category arent the best Rpers here, though i believe credit must be given to some who do try, and manage to do it very well, and trust me. there are quite a few of those people here, who despite being in a clan RP very well.
also, i saw that u previously asked for a terrorist id. now, i also see that u got denied, but it hasnt stopped some of your Cylon fighters from pvp whoring to the max. i wont mention more here, to avoid humiliation, but methinks you need to get your act together. get your ships, guns, diplomacy and everything done and dusted, and post a RP story which would be able to relate to FL. FL is a diff game to BSG or Star wars or star trek, so bringing other stuff to fl, it needs to have a fl element in it.
(no flaming intended, so...)
To those of u using Sabers with real RP armament and names goes my FULL and UP MOST respect! Not only u'r true to the RP, but u confused the hell out of me. Once I was sure I was targeting NPC saber and not a player, took me some time to figure it out I was very wrong.
But u will agree there'r more then few factions allowed to use ships/configs I mentioned. Cylons must use CYLON ships or they'r not CYLONS, and I stand by that.
Marauders hitbox is buged. Granted. But Raven's Talon's isn't, and its still almost equally hard to hit head on. Not to mention Blood Dragon that is so small and fast moving target, It's almost unhittable from any angle. So u don't stand much of a chance hitting Marauder head on with NOVAs. Big deal. It'll almost be the same with other two mentioned crafts. U can still hit it easy from above, below, use mine, use missiles. Everything marauder gains with buggy hitbox, it looses with buggy weapons falling off from blasts. Also, only its HULL that's bugged. Shields come down quite easily when shooting at it.
Now about "pvp whoring". Attacking gunboats (escorted by VHFs) or cruisers with just 2 Heavy Fighters hardly constitutes a "pvp whoring" wouldn't u say? Or is it just "noobs haha" if u we do that and loose, and "pvp whoring" if we get the upper hand?
About unintended hostility with outcats, all I can say its entirely their fault. They have attacked unprovoked and destroyed two marauders even after those stated that will not be hostile or engage outcast forces. Marauders were destroyed not only without returning fire, but without even trying defensive maneuvers. Killed while standing still. How's that for "pvp whoring"? Every time people see CYLON marauder on scope they go "HAHA come over here toaster I'll re-arrange ur wiring". My guess: most know marauder only by "stats" on it, not by seen combat worthiness. Once they loose after seeing its much more then meets the eye, they all start crying about "whoring".
P.S.
If I was split, or off topic I apologize. This will be my last post on the subject. Just needed to clear out misconceptions/misunderstandings regarding mentioned issues.
uh...I kill BD all the time.
I make a carreer out of shooting Rt
that ship isn't unhittable.
guns pass through it.
have fun buying your guns back after every single fight, I'm buying cannonballs.
Quote:But u will agree there'r more then few factions allowed to use ships/configs I mentioned. Cylons must use CYLON ships or they'r not CYLONS, and I stand by that.
That sounds like your answer right there.
Why don't you drop the cylon tag and just be homicidal robots bent on revenge against xxx for offense yyy? If you're all into RP then RP something that comes from the FL universe in such a way as to emulate your favorite tv bad guys.
"To gain a hundred victories in a hundred battles is not the highest excellence;
to subjugate the enemy's army without doing battle is the highest of excellence."
Nail on the frickin head Morrigan. Emulate. Brilliant. I typed up this whole thing that I decided not to post. It was literally 3 paragraphs about my displeasure with using an unoriginal faction idea here in Disco. You summed up that entire post with this sentence: If you're all into RP then RP something that comes from the FL universe in such a way as to emulate your favorite tv bad guys.

Great idea! And they've already got a decent start: basing off of Gammu. Nobody ever bothered to say where those robots came from. Why not do something with that? Tell us where those robots came from and why they're there!
Now, if BSG would also do that, then we'd be in business.:)Probably been around too long to change, though...
Not to be off topic, but LZ, if you hit info while docked on the robot planet it tells you where they come from.
If you look at the last few posts I've made, I've kept warning you that this would degenerate into a flame war; but it doesn't solve anything. Just stop it, it's giving me a headache too.
If people think that other characters are cloak and dagger, then they need a better example. I would like to point out that i have had a cylon character on this server since week one of my playing here. He has a developed storyline, as well as his motives and what he has been acomplishing. I'll come back to this in a moment, first though...
Anyone with the opinion that cylons have no place in the freelancer universe are correct. There is one problem however that ruins this reasons backing for argument against this faction. The existance of the BSG and the BSG using its TV backstory leading up to its entrance in the freelancer universe. If the BSG exists, so do the cylons. The method then has to come from the cylons to explain how they found the BSG again.
Let me raise my hand and go back to my initial start of the post. My cylon character has been doing nothing but trying to communicate with, and find out any information he can about the BSG and coordinates to their home systems, their ships, and their agenda. So if this new faction needs a "Link" to the universe they have it through me. Ive been doing this for months people, all ingame, and a bit on the boards but not publically.
Dont beleive me? My first post about my character with no shield. My very first post on this fine community was about my cylon character trying to have dialogue with a BSG member and that person instead getting pissed and chewing me out out of character about my not having a shield. I at the time did not say he was a cylon character, and for good reason. It was a roleplay opportunity that the BSG missed out on from then untill now.
Does "I am Viper escort Pilot Fenris of the Civilian Ship Adriatic" ring any bells? How many of you BSG pilots have i told that too? Only the warhammer even knew what the Adriatic was, granted he shot me before either of us said i word. I got in gun range of him and died, In a fighter. he saw my ID and shot me. I told him in the ammo he tractored in he got a armor plate that had "Adriatic" painted on the side. He knew it was one of the Colonial ships, but thats all i gave him.
The other pilots i talked to, or flew by, or sat under the noses of and followed pretty much ignored me, or were ignorant of the BSG tv storyline. So if your looking for character development and good storyline RP through these guys you probably are going to be disapointed.
They will however provide a good honorable fight every time. I have seen that time and time again. They fight fair, they fight smart, they keep a decent diplomacy and stay out of the troublesome areas of diplomacy issues when they can. So in that RP regard they are great.
Let me just add that what i established so far storyline wise with my character would be awkward if it just disappeared because you guys show up as a faction. My motivation was moving towards an event, not a faction, so that the cylons would disappear back into the void of space. However, my characters actions so far only help your factions storyline and method of finding the bsg:Dso ill post up what has happened so far here for you guys to chew on and use as you like.
First off, my character was one of the vipers left behind with the Adriatic when the ship was lost. He was visiting family aboard the ship and quickly listed as MIA after the incident. The cylons at the time were still hot on the tails of the Colonial fleet, so this civilian ship was found quickly. As the storyline progressed, the BSG eventually ditched the cylons so they could come here to the Sirius sector. The cylons however needed a way to find them, but as you have put it would take years. Now years later you have found the BSG, and as pointed out simply jumping here on chance well, that would not make so much sense for a faction.
However, i thought of that. My character was one of the many civilians tortured and experimented on. The Cylons were not about to commit a vast fleet and the resources needed to maintain it to randomly jump around the universe. No they went with the simpler approach, and one that used the 12 colonies remnants to their benefit. The short version of Fenris's story is that he was turned into a pseudo cylon for the purpose of redownloading back into a ressurection ship. They then killed him, and stuck him into a prepared inhibitor body. This body was a clone of his original, with cylon machines integrated to run cylon programing and override his own human will and agenda. They then put him to work for their cause, along with the multitude of other human conversions that they had performed on the civilians left behind on the Adriatic.
Now the vipers and raiders of the BSG universe had no shields, and used ballistic weaponry. So it made to much sense to not fly the ship i had. No shield, 2 balistic looking guns, and two missle launchers. No CD, no batts no botts and no tractor beam use. Of course i mounted an ID, but i never tractored in anything. Low and behold the horrors that this caused for people on the server. They just could not accept the idea that my ship was OLD and not updated with the current equipment....
Anyways, the ship was what i called a corrupted viper. The cylons took the viper design, and made ships of the same look with cylon internals. They were flown much the same like a normal viper, the human pilot controlled the ship from the human looking cockpit. However, crack them open and you find blood and guts. RP hook for the BSG that never got bit. Pirate ID viper pilot claiming to be a viper escort. Lets just shoot it and move on.. Anyways...
The cylons used this corrupted vipers, and two newly developed cylon capital ships to implement their new plan. The first and most important ship is the new resurrection ship. Following the premises set forth by the corrupted viper, the cylons built an aditional corrupted ship. For the event i was staging, i had to pick a capship for the climax. I was going to see if one of the admins would be so kind as to fly a lost battlestar for the last battle, but well its never going to get past ... nothing now. Im fine with that, and its not you guys fault for it. Many other things have hindered me keeping its development going, outside of just my one character and a few other people starting on their raiders. I keep getting side tracked...
The corrupted battlestar was built as a new, massive and well defended resurrection ship. It was capable of retrieving the cylon raider consciousness from previously impossible distances through the help of another ship, the Cylon slingshot gate ship. This ship was capable of sling shotting a fighter sized ship all across the universe on a one way trip. The goal was shoot all of the civilian modified humans inside of corrupted vipers to distant corners of space in hopes of finding the BSG fleet. If they got there and no signs of life were found, they would suicide into a sun, asteroid, planet, anything that was close and beam back down for another go. Now having found something, they assumed a human approach of infiltration, and tracking. My character found the sirius sector. After months of trying to talk to the BSG, and sitting in their home system while they were there and ignoring me, i got enough data to forward back to the cylon fleet their location, and such commit enough effort to move the fleet to the sirius sector. That was going to be part of the event, but you guys can have all the fun with that.
So that should fix any problems people have with how you guys got here. Unless people want to try and deny that any such roleplay was done. As i said, ive been at that storyline for months. Not my fault that it was ignored by people i was addressing by name, following, pestering, near stalking to try and get some dialog.
Let me appologise for seeming... well being an ass hat towards BSG character development. Sorry you guys, but i gave up trying. If your not prepared to RP on the server without being warned, then i dont know what to say about trying to RP with you guys.. Every instance was unplesant in some way. I say again though, every instance of a fight involving you guys has been very plesant. So dont think i dislike you guys totaly, just your "In character" rp. I hate setting up situations for dialog in advance. It was fun actually hunting you guys down on the server for days, but it sucked something fierce to be downright ignored for 20 minutes when im 2k away from a ship screaming radio chatter to it. However if i had opened fire on you guys, i bet you would have turned around right then. I'll name names if you want, and cite sources that i have. I have some screanshots, and a couple posts referancing these events. I however was not expecting to need proof of this storyline. I was constantly hoping that i would one day find that one BSG member that realized what was going on.
Anyways, that was really long. Final short points.
IF YOU SKIPPED OVER THE REST OF THE POST READ THIS!
* If you cylons are looking for a good honorable opponent you will find it in the BSG.
* If you cylons are looking for character interaction and development dont set your hopes very high
* If you cylons need an explination about how you found the BSG my character already did that for you
* For anyone wondering i have had no hand or part in the making of this faction, i do not intend on joining it, and i had no idea of its potential creation when i started my own cylon character months ago.
* The cylon character i have is Fenris, he flies a viper, he has backstory you all just missed it. Time and time again you have missed it.
* If proof of any of this is needed just ask. I have it.
* My attitude towards the Cylon faction is: I like it. I am for it, as long as they work it so they are not pvping everyone on the server. Work it as you are here to exact justice agains the BSG and go from there. Work your diplomacy correct and you will do just fine. My main suggestion is dont get involved in battles against the BSG along with other people. Diplomacy right now can be screwed up majorly if you associate with a couple key factions that have well... community agreed diplomacy issues. Fight the BSG and only the BSG. Move on after you are established with a further diplomacy.
*My attitude towards the BSG: I respect your factions attempt to maintain the BSG TV story along with the freelancer universe. I respect you all in combat, and i enjoy your honor and style of fighting for the good of the fight and fun of the game. I do not like your lack of in character roleplay, or rp outside of diplomatic rp.
*My attitude towards BSG TV being here: Its over and done with. If it was not supposed to have happened, the ships should have NEVER been added to the mod. Do you know how many people play this mod specifically for the BSG ships? This may not be "BSG mod" but the ships are here, they are named as such, and they are being used as such. They moved their RP to fit that of the freelancer universe. Something that is suggested time and time again for new factions. Help the cylons do that too.
*Ive wrote way to much, so im going to stop with again apologizing for all of this. I need to say most of it so that my effort at least results in something. I wish it could of resulted in RP with the BSG though rather than after the fact discussion. Oh well, i tried.

Interesting, "Fenris", quite interesting. Certainly got by my radar as well.
There is another well-documented instance of Cylon sightings around Sirius. I expect we will eventually learn more about what happened to the ELF Fnordette "Kitty".
Caprica 23, I do not know if you will be interacting with these "new" Cylons or not; or if your story will go a separate way. I do know that Fnordie has not given up hope of contacting Kitty, and finding out if she has been totally absorbed by a Cylon "host". I also know that I will be very interested to see how that particular "Cylon story" plays out as well. As always, the Veranda is available should you need to extend the Kitty/Caprica motif.
See, it ain't totally new ground. Tread carefully, as "Fenris" has advised, create a believable and intriguing story as Caprica has done, and you may find yourselves here as long as your arch enemies.
