Don't sweat it man, I guess that whoever pirated you has so much problems that he acts all tough in here to compensate for it.

His "ego" rockets sky-high when he plays and he can't think straight - why would you want to pay the oaf 5 million + drop your cargo? Tell you what - DROP YOUR CARGO, DESTROY IT and then die. This way, he gets nothing but a free kill. Then put a bounty on him....I may be one of the people who can claim it.

Remember, man - there are decent people in here too. People who are mature, good-willing and have some brain left in them. I have seen pirates who would let their target go and even give them some wine and tobacco, following a good RP.

Hope that helps you.

If they demand all your ore, your credits, and demand you leave the system-

Why bother to pay up? You don't gain anything if you do. In fact, you lose more.

Run or fight.

Eh... I still think he was a douche. Also, why is there rule 0.0? I haven't seen anyone sanctioned for breaking it (this could, very easily be one of the cases).

Althrough I'd appreaciate if pirates acted like that with me it would be bad for their pockets. Piracy will be so low only a few people will have pirate vessels.

Also, I don't have anything against greety pirates that ask big sums of cash but, cargo + 5 millions is somewhere around 25-27 millions worth.

As I said, I like to reward pirates too, in this case, I rewarded him with my cargo that I mined like 5 minutes. Not a big deal imo. I through this pirate was gonna be happy that I rewarded him with a 20 million worth cargo and did not jet the ores and destroyed them and let me mind my own business.

Umm, well that rule is there just to 'motivate' good behaviour of the players, I believe. It's not really a rule.

The billionth discussion about how pirates are too harsh. Well, I think he acted accordingly, didn't break any rules. Also, calling the guy frustrated or over-compensating is...well, insulting (wasn't me, rather a friend, if it was who I think it was). I feel forced to insult back: grow a pair and deal with it

I fully support pirates who convince traders that it is cheaper to hire an escort then it is to get caught without one.

Please, do not start a flamewar. This thread was created to find out if -this- scenario was a rule violation or only a greety pirate.

Oh? This pirate did not mention anything about any escort or something similar. He just told me what to do and I complied (except paying the additional credits; here i died).

Agreed but through cause and effect in which the demands of majority of pirates will ensure that the losses will always be higher then if you had hired an escort. Such things are risky though as it can't reach a point where even hiring escorts will keep your funds barely over 0. Basically if a pirates cleans out traders of everything I tend to not mind, even when I'm the target. It's the nature of piracy and a danger of flying in space. If piracy demands are too low then there is no incentive to hire escorts if it's cheaper to just get caught by a pirate every once and a while and let yourself "die" (only to respawn again). The risk is that this kind of train of thought can run away on everyone and Disco loses all traders because a combination of unlawful piracy, lawful fines, and escort fees make money making a thing in the past and thus collapsing the engine in which all activity is born from.
