I've RPed as a scouting droid before and here is basically what I did. Very few simple communications (i.e. "This is an automated observation droid sent by the RPV, please go about your business." "This droid intends no hostilities towards you." "(Insert Call Sign), you are not authorized to be in this sector, transmitting ship data and location to human counterparts.")

Now obviously the Cylons would be far more sophisticated than a simple scouting droid, but you get the gist. A robotic entity would speak very to the point and not attempt any pleasantries or conversationalism.

Now, more onto why I really wanted to post here. I have to whole-heartedly agree with Dreygon here. Please make this more FL and less Battlestar. This is Freelancer and all factions should be at least FL based. Not from Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, BSG, Babylon 5. Flash Gordon (dating myself on that one), etc.

It is time, a wise guy will explain to me, what RP means. Means it to play a role i want to play embeded in the game and the community? Or is RP, i have to play a role some dictators order me to play.

Let us all think about these questions.
My respect to Dark Centurion and other Cylons. They always stayed calm in this discussion, even to some notorious flame throwers. If they will show the same respect and professionalism in-game, their faction will have a better RP attitude than some of the FL based factions. So they are very welcome.

Always remind to keep your house clean first, before pointing to other houses.

The last opportuninity would be to make a poll for the future, if only FL backgrounded factions should be founded in the future. This is the democratic way, some people will not like, but hey no one has said democracy is the best.

There's Role-play and Me-play. With Role-play you step into a role that possibly exists within the world/universe/city/whatever that the community is working within. However with Me-play you pick out something that interests you and play that role because that's what you want to do. Hope that helps AoM.

The fact of the matter is, even if the Cylon RP is excellent, it's in the wrong game. Much as if someone founded a Mario faction with excellent RP, it would still be in the wrong game.

I must commend the Cylons for sticking to their guns, and their message dump outmatches in professionalism even some of the most senior factions here. If we can have BSG, I think we should allow Cylons. But my opinion is we should get rid of both in their current form, and work on phasing out non-FL material from FL.

As for Phantoms.. they work around it by having the Disco!C'tan as nort actually being the 40k!C'tan. I believe if this Cylon faction wants truly to be in roleplay, as some have suggested, they could integrate fantastically in a role like that of the new Cylons as Gammu residents. Omicron Kappa hasn't been truly used much in Disco, Monkey Universe comparisons aside, and it would be a shame to let such an interesting system go to waste.

@Those who agree that we should RP with silence - Well, this was our first choice. But then people started calling us pvp whores, and in a way, they were right. You can't really RP in silence, then you'r not RP-ing, you'r PVP-ing without a word sent. So, that is not a way for us to remain on this server, and you all know it. Now, you all know that there is no way to please everybody. So, one way, or another, there will always be complaining.

I'm glad someone noticed that we are not the ones flaming here, but being flamed. I was trying to say all that i have nicely, even though people were very unpleasant at some point.

If disco society won't give us a shot, then that is all. And if they give us a chance, we will try to something good with our little cylon thingy..

@Praetyre - Now, are you saying that people should join only the original existing factions? Then, why are people joining some weird factions, with weird powers, never seen in original FL? Are those non-FL factions too? I can't see why should we be a non-FL faction, if we can put our story together, and combine those two? I mean, where the heck did you see Phantoms in original FL (not flaming, i'm on your side, just stating an example)? I mean, if someone is comfortable with RP-ing something that he likes, why would you have a problem with that?

And if you guys continue with "WE SHOULD CHASE =BSG= AWAY TOO" story because of cylons, i will be first to leave cylons. If that is a way it's done here, then you'l have it.

If it is really that simple i don't understand the discussions. Along with this explanation Cylons, BSG, Phantoms and who else has nothing to do on a Freelancer RP server. They need an Me play server.

It is amazing to see things black and white only. Just simple.

I would bet all of my Sirius credits (and thats a lot) that if someone came in here with the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Borg, Naboo, Jedi, Sith or anything else like that, it would get flamed way harder than this did. I personally would flame the h-e-double hockey stick out of anything like that, and I dont usually flame anything.
