I thought I read somewhere in our vast forums that the main perk of a BS cruise disruptor is that it is hard to shoot off a ship and that they are not very good at shooting a BS out of cruise. To do that you need a train cruise disruptor.
Although I think other CDs can stop them now, too. Plus, CDs are much more effective now.
unfortunately i have proven this statement true.
i was having to run from a group of "goodies". the battleship was giving me an overload of OWWWWW
but no matter how hard i tried i would always get disrupted...i was something like 2k away from the BS, in full cruise, and the CD caught me in less than two seconds. also with some being so fast (almost 1k m/s) it doesn't matter how many CM's you unload...your getting disrupted.
my CM launcher holds 70...i launched them as fast as i could tap C. i must've had atleast 24 CM's behind me and one CD took me out. i was using the Enh. countermeasure dropper which is 80% effective...but it was acting like it was more like 0%.
is there any point in buying the dang CM's if they don't work?
i mean all you have to do is get behind them and shoot...with a range of 3.5k and it traveling at tradelane speeds...that's all she wrote i'm afraid
Thats what I want to know, Dreygon...I shoot an enemy player in crete with a disrupter, hit him and all the corsairs and have to bug out of the fight because I get disrupted even though I have a HEAVY counter-measures streaming out as fast as they could..And a titan fires a wasp at me, and my gunboat just drops out of cruise immediately..Its extremely frustrating that a WASP cruiser disrupter can ignore about ten countermeasures and STILL disrupt you.

in my experience it is much more about what ship you fly than it is about what countermeasures you use. my Zoner Juggernaut can t be disrupted by anything smaller than a train disruptor, same goes for the nomad battleship and i guess other ships of huge size like the spyglass.
my liner couldn t be stopped by a normal disruptor either but would need a train disruptor and thats allthough its engine is in its back. a train ( large & advanced ) requires a traindisruptor ( now thats a surprise:)) but there are also ships that you d not expect to need a train disruptor. the blockade runner models appear to be quite hard to disrupt - and they are quite small and have their engines well in the back.
i don t know about many other ships - personally, i rely on the traindisruptor. i was able to escape pirate NPC groups in a whale that chain-CDed me in omega-47 ( hessians ) sometimes i had half a dozen CDs incoming, but they all poofed and the criuse charge did not stop - when i was accellerating, the CDs showed the old bug. ( flying like parallel to the ship and exploding harmlessly )
there was one quite funny occasion, that a cruise disruptor hit my ship - and bounced off ( yes, they do have a missile model - you just can t see it with the firetail very well ) - the missile bounced off the hull and spiralled away - too bad i did not screenshot it.
Yeah, Cruise disrupters are now TOO effective. even when dropping CMs, they still get you even when theres no missile lock icon flashing.

The reason you get distrupted with 30~ CMs behind you is probably because they are using Train Distruptors. The field projected by the train distruptors is so large that it renders CMs useless.
In my experience against NPC's and other players CD's which weren't Train CD's, CMs work fine. I just have to hold down the "C" button more, which is fine with me. I launch two and usually the wasps are diverted and miss me completely. Also, sometimes the CD's overshoot me and their blast radius misses when they explode.
Overall, I think it was a neccesary change though. Makes you think twice before getting into a fight, doesn't it?;).
Mcneo, Try flying the corsair gunboat and see where I'm getting at..I fly two of them and am considering putting them both away until they are either better at escaping WASP disrupters (I even scanned, yes they were wasps..). Just now in gamma i had to use all my heavy CMs, and that still didn't get me away.

CMs simply don't work against NPCs now, from my experience. THe NPCs hang on close enough that apparently the CDs are on you before your CM has a chance. This hasn't resulted in loss of ships for me, but plenty of annoyance.

Yeah, I'm getting reports that one of my buddies out in Alpha's getting his Outcast Dreadnought blown out of cruise by friendlies using Train CDs because the blast radius is, like, half the size of the Dreadnought. Train Cruise Disruptors have always been unfair-when trying to run from a Gunboat it was hopeless even in the old version-now this sounds like it's just getting pathetic. Almost everything I'm hearing says anybody flying anything bigger than a Kiith Soomtaw SHF is permanently screwed. What use is a freaking train if you can get taken out by a single idiot in a freaking Stiletto? It becomes impossible to make money, and impossible for retreating fleets to run, because they can't accelerate.
