It's a simple balancing thing and I support the idea of releasing little balancing and bugfixing updates from time to time, we already have a built-in updater, so this should not be any problem.
For example, a very, very curious, but at the same time, huge balancing problem: Compare the Gaian's Angel gun to the Natterturn Zwei. Let's ignore the fact that both guns are not top-tier anyway.

As you can see: The Natters do more damage at the same range and speed, while consuming less energy. They even belong to the same tech group, meaning they do the same damage to the same type of shield. If you take the Suncannon D of the GC into consideration, it is the EXACT same gun as the Angel, EXCEPT it does more damage. Same energy cost.
Such immensely bad balanced things should not happen.
We could talk about buffs/nerfs for certain guns in another topic.

It's not badly balanced. Again, you are taking balance as something very simple. It's not just numbers.
Gaians are in Bretonia, they never even meet Hessians. What Gaians have to counter (Templars, Paladins, Werewolves, Barghests) can't compare to what Hessians have to counter (Wraiths, Bergelmirs, Titans, Gladiators etc). Compare Natterturns to Hornvipers, or Suncannons, and you'll see they are not any better then the rest.
Gaian weapons are a bit weaker, only because they tend to fight weaker ships all the time. However, Gaians chose to ignore all of this anyway, mounting Del Cids to Black Dragon VHF's all the time.

Also, I can find you the numbers on Gaia's Angel from 4.84, so you can see how much I improved them after all. Here it is:

Proposal:

Around 25% stronger.
On the other hand, Natters were only slightly upgraded, here it goes:

Proposal:
Hull damage - 325
Shield damage - 162.5
Power usage - 83
Energy efficiency -

You can see the rest over here, but I guess some things were changed for the final 4.85 version.

Perhaps reading would have been your friend. Do give it a try. Bro.

Non reading chaps aside, the suggestion is flawed in that weapons are already pretty much similar stat wise and those that are 'over powered' are getting adjusted in 4.86. The issue I was trying to solve with this suggestion can be solved via other methods that don't require as much work.

TLDR: Flawed suggestion that can be put down like a bad habit.

meh, what i meant by that is use your common sense.

The amount of work it would take to rebalance every ship far outweighs the amount of balance it would take to rebalance the guns....

hehe better idea, make the tech chart fully Red then proper balancing can be done with guns... but alas Q_Q it will spoil the servers 1 line of RP

I'm using common sense. I tried to apply a fix to a perceived problem. I'll admit suggestion is flawed due to the fact I am not very knowledgeable regarding weapon and ship balance. In my very first post I pointed out that it would take a re balance of every ship, ie a con to the suggestion.

As for making the entire tech chart red? I'm not opposed to a pure tech system, myself. You are right now, it would create an endless stream of whine.

meh nevermind me deadric im bias as hell when it comes to guns.... i dont wanna see standardized guns, and i really dislike the tech exchange thing on disco. Since i do all of Disco's effects its a big ass waste of my time doing every gun etc, when only 5 get used due to crappy tech exchange excuses.... "You iz my ally yus? give me gunz?"

*laughs* You actually spend time making effects for guns you know aren't going to be used. You need to go see Doc, maybe he can help you out. :P

No, more diversity - more interesting gameplay. So far the only OP loadout I really whined about are full nom turrets scorpions but I can live with it.

Equal gun stats made me to leave Shattered Worlds server. It will make the game very boring and many people will just leave the server.
