True the gate is finished, and the lanes are down, although, they head straight to a KNF Battleship, it wouldn't be idea for the lane to ba active at this time.

Though the Jump Gates itself are highly advanced pieces of kit, they still needs parts, and the local Tau-23 radiation only makes the need higher. Hence the need to ship the parts or risk losing a vital link to the system.
