Just as much as building a base there does, I guess.

Apparently players bases built in dark matter clouds don't take damage from the cloud/radiation there, so it does make sense sort of.

Think 'free' defense kinda, aside from that, most people know that you take damage flying through those clouds, so a lot of people avoid doing it if they can.
