Comm ID: Elder Costello
To: CEO of RepEx, Alex Cummings
It is time to choose sides. A Rheinland corporation, so rich and fabulous, whose foundation owes itself to the Corsairs, should be entitled to pay a small sum to their forebearers.
If you choose to pay, your continued friendship with the Corsairs is guaranteed for the future, with your ships gaining Corsair assistance wherever there aren't prying eyes. You would also have access to Crete, and the extensive market for artifacts around Sirius. Gold is also in need on Tripoli, so you could have your shippers deliver cargoes of the material to our shipyards. We would pay a high price for them, as demand currently far outstrips supply. As an economist yourself, Alex, you will appreciate that this is a business offer which could prove very lucrative for you.
Of course, if you refuse our generous offer of continued friendship and access to military and economic benefits, then your operations within Rheinland itself and indeed outside may be jeopardized. Our fleet has been almost completely rebuilt, hence the need for Gold, and it would be a shame to waste resources fighting you and the Rheinland military. Indeed, you would not have access to the high prices on our bases of Gold, or the artifacts that we sell from our home, Crete. It would be a fruitless, but sadly necessary conflict between each other, one that need not happen. If RepEx shipments started to fail in reaching their designation, the shares in your company would plummet. Most companies, historically and currently, take their share-holders and hold them in high regard. If RepEx were to fail in keeping their shipments safe, there would no doubt be a fall, or perhaps even crash in the currently high value of the RepEx stock.
We the Elders have watched your company very closely and we do not like what we see. Your continued militarization of RepEx and your cozy dealing with one of our most hated enemy displeases us greatly. We believe you need a reminder of your roots which is what Elder Costello did last night when you decided to move RepEx capital ships so close to our home world.
I am sure you can appreciate the precariousness of both our positions, but the Elders feel it necessary that you take into consideration your earlier promises of helping our cause in exchange for security in our section of the Omicrons and the boarder worlds, try not to forget all those months your ships moved freely through Corsair space running the lucrative trade run from Cambridge to Theta.
