What is here is that you're using that tactic where you E-Kill into rocks and bounce off at 400m/s. While that's nice and all, I've been told before by a previous admin (Virus) that he has warned people against this as an abuse of game mechanics. I don't know what the current feelings of the administration are, but in the past that's what it's been classified as. Thought you should know.
Aside from that I think it's a very crappy tactic. We can probably realize that if you run into an asteroid, the law of conservation of momentum won't make you bounce off at double your speed (triple in the case of GBs and Cruisers). Incredibly silly.
Have a nice night.:)
' Wrote:Hm, afaik I'm the only one who used it (and started to do it just few days ago when I had to fight a gunboat with slowly turning cruiser turrets on the Order char, it just didn't come to my mind before), and as far as I noticed my speed wasn't higher then the moment before I bounced, it was actually lower. (Since I initiate EK before hitting the asteroid, not like with the ship ramming when you initiate EK during the ram)
P.S. Launched the game, rechecked it. Bounce speed is lower then the initial one. And it's mainly being used not to get away from those who's following you, but to quickly change direction of your movement to evade SNAC (which kinda violates the law of physics in FL Disco universe too, but is required for balance :) )
Anyway, it's not the place to discuss that, I think. And thanks for the nice pewpew there.
' Wrote:It actually is the place to discuss that. You're abusing game mechanics, which shines a bad light on the EDGE. Don't do it.
Anyways, I am hoping you chaps are talking with the admins so to find a resolution to your ID issues as I think you are just as worthy of official status as any of the current official factions. Don't give up so easily!
I kinda don't agree with abovementioned statement, especially. Would like to see some clarification, as is it really an abuse of game mechanics under these conditions:
--bouncing is being made only from stationary objects, like asteroids, stations, trade lanes, etc.
--after bounce speed is always lower then the ship speed before the bounce.
--all it gives you is to change the vector of your movement.
I don't see how that would be considered a bad form in current FL game engine / gameplay model.
If I'm wrong, please tell me how and why exactly I'm wrong.
