"Excuse me," Lana said to the officer and smiled. The policeman smiled back and nodded, it appears he enjoyed his short conversation with her.
Lana led Ray to a holo-display nearby, where a daily bulletin was on display. She went around to the back, where a small console was hidden by the display's large stand and signaled Ray. She brought up the root menus of its file system, found and connected her holo-com with it. With a few touches, the plan of the entire building was safely transferred to her device. Lana activated her holo-com and brought up the plans while Ray triangulated the package's approximate location by performing a synchronisation routine with his tracking device.
"Bingo"
The two headed towards the lower section of the compound, offering passing police officers uneasy smiles and awkward nods. So far so good, the news of a stolen police vehicle had not reached the station yet. But Lana knew their time was limited and urged Ray to pick up the pace. As they reached the entrance to the lower crime lab, they hit a security checkpoint. Two officers stood at either side of a reinforced door, which opened to allow a researcher through after he showed them his ID authorisations.
Lana approached them and showed them her badge, then said, "Sergeant Amy Adams, illicit drugs control division. I have authorisation to escort this maintenance engineer to check possible leakage in the ventilation."
"Adams, huh?" The officer said, unconvinced, "I've never heard of a Sergeant Adams in drugs. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to contact HQ to confirm this."
Ray turned and gave Lana a desperate look. Lana nodded and looked at the officer on the right then back at Ray.
"Well, erm," Lana took a step closer to the officer to read his badge, "Gary, is it? I have something to tell you that might change your mind."
Lana reached for her taser in her uniform and zapped the officer, Gary seized up and dropped to the floor. Meanwhile, Ray threw himself at the other one and gave him a left hook before he could react. That officer fought back and tried to block Ray's attacks, before Lana came over and pushed her taser into his chest giving him an electrical discharge. Ray and Lana quickly dragged the bodies into a storage room at the side and opened the door to the labs.
