What do Zoners want?

neutrality =/= submission

Vanilla has two kinds of neutrality:

- zoner : keep neutrality by playing others against each other in a passive way. it is not true neutrality...
- junkers : keep neutrality by "being too insignificant to deal with them seriously"

in a way - the junkers are submissive. - when lawfuls ask them - or use them as contacts to the criminal world - they give away "some" information - in exchange for being useful enough. - when criminals demand stuff from them - they allow them services, too. - they are more "selfless" or want to appear like that.

junkers are USEFUL for everyone - and no one really HATES junkers.


zoners.... are not quite submissive. - they scam / rip customers off. [ zoners can buy food at house stations - but corsairs can only buy it at fp9 - compare the prices... its a rip ] - but they make others dependent on them. junkers are - compared to that - not building up dependencies. - they offer "opportunities" ( similar result, different approach - its like incentive and punishment ).

zoners are NECESSARY ( hence useful ) - but are often HATED for it.


imagine the situation:

- you are really really ill , NOT contagous - but no one really knows..... - your illness kills you slowly.
- the general store in town does not let you shop your medical supplies there, cause they fear to be affected by your illness.
- ppl avoid you - yell at you - make you feel an outcast

- then a group of ppl shows up - they set up a new store and they allow you to shop for medicals there.
- they know quite well that your illness is not contagous... but they never tell anyone! - and when you tell others, they don t believe it of course.
- they buy cheap - and sell to you for a LOT of money.

- you are FORCED to buy there - cause they are the only ones selling to you

- they ensure your survival - but you hate them for that


now - imagine that there is another gang that you hate even more, cause they are the ones that were responsible for your illness in the first place.

- the new shopkeepers make sure that your hatred for the other gang remains always greater than your hatred for being scammed.





zoners are NOT neutral! - that is a wrong phrase for the faction - junkers are neutral....

zoners are not attacked by others cause they have build dependencies! - the net result might be similar to being neutral - but it is not the same.



the above describes the global situation - each individual zoner however doesn t even need to remotely fit into that.
