Not silliness. Tactical failures. Naval doctrines across the word do not call for the deployment of heavy assets without support. A battleship with 3 light fighters is a whole lot less vulnerable to a few bombers then a battleship alone. But E-Peen wavers rarely choose the role of sidekick...

I was not making comparisons in tactic, but in cost. Also, in RL 3 bombers would have tough time sinking properly armed battleship, with all its CMs, defense weapons and such.
