Actually the vanilla Zoners were. That's why they were neutral with everyone. Although I agree that the disco Zoners with the Dreadnoughts and the other warships only share the name with their vanilla predeccesors.

So... considering that the disco Zoners are gifted by the devs with warships, vast colonies and other stuff, one can safely assume that a Zoner group can also approach a more paramilitary RP.

I'd advise you to read through the vanilla lore as you don't seem to have read it.

Zoners are neutral with everyone as a means of survival, not out of a pacifist nature. Zoners in vanilla had things around their stations called No Fire Zones; which both Corsairs and Hunters were scared to violate. I doubt the Sairs and Hunters feared breaking the NFZ because the Zoners would talk them to death.
