It's hard to comprehend how large space is. I've called his asteroid home for many months, but every time I look around and see nothing but space, I feel overwhelmed. I like it this way, quiet and peaceful. Nothing but the warmth of distant stars and the muted sounds of space to keep me company. I see ships, now and then. Far away. I sometimes feel the urge to pursue them, to tear them open like candy wrappers and feast upon their sweet cargoes. But then I lose interest. I really haven't the energy. I am content to stay here, alone, until eventually every star I see goes out.

That monologue ran through the Speaker's head as he watched another group of ships fly across the horizon of his vision. He almost convinced himself to believe it. But then suddenly, something else caught his vision. Something that was simply too good to pass up.

A mining ship. A huge DU5-TY complete with Bounty Hunter escort. It was approaching at high speed. The Speaker's hunger finally took hold of his judgment, and he leaped.
