It has improved a lot. But Creepers no longer have the epic explosion sound : ((((((

One thing I found that's changed since beta 1.8 when I last played it two months ago is that caves have
gotten a lot scarier (well, that might be the wrong word - terrifying?) with the addition of food and what
seems like turning up the spawn rate of mobs, and another thing I can't put quite put my finger on - it feels
like they've changed something to the way caves are generated since last time I played.

And sprint has actually made it more scary, as it's just another thing that you come to rely on that can fail at any
moment - and frequently does - when you're underground and without any food or food source. Good luck getting
up again alive with those resources you've spent the last hour getting hold of with half a heart left.

Plus it seems to have some bugs with regards to server hosting / joining

Yeah, noticed that. I and all of my friends are having a lot of problems logging in to pretty much any server we've tried and usually play on so far - we're without fail getting disconnected on the first few tries to log in
with either "End of Stream" or "SMP: Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection
abort: recv failed" as the error message. It works flawlessly after you manage to get in, though.
