Staff roles:
Thank you for all of the fantastic critiques and interest. I will be incorporating your suggestions over the course of the next week. Due to there being so many, I regret that I may not be able to address every single critique with a reply, however I will be thinking seriously about every critique that has been posted, and will be posted.
Regarding the use of ships and weapons not sold on Lane Hacker Bases, my philosophy is this: If the ship or weapon is sold by an ally, it is a possibility that requires 3 things: 1)Prior approval from the Faction Leadership 2) Solidly roleplaying the reasons for the purchase on the forum as a justification 3) An actual IN GAME RP event/action/theft/etc. The in game action must include the player facing opposition forces in some way, and must therefore contain the possibility of failure. What these events might be, and how large they would be, would depend on the type of purchase, and the cooperation of other players on both the ally and opposition sides. In other words, you have to earn it on the forum, AND in space. The difficulty of the RP event would be proportional to the value of the purchase. A ship would require more than a couple of weapons in terms of the RP value.
Zoners are not Lane Hacker allies, and so their weapons and ships are in a much grayer area. We'll see how things develop.
I have received the following by PM and wanted to share the questions and my answers here because it explains a lot of the thinking behind The Lane Hackers:
As the Sabre is beeing spammed left and right (because it has good stats now) I was thinking about eventually using the Crow, after and if I get up the ranks. What do you think about it?
1) The Crow: Since it is sold at Palermo Base (Outcasts), it is a possibility. The Falcata is on our list and it is also sold at Palermo. However the Falcata is listed as restricted access, and the Crow would be the same. Basically, the only reason Lane Hackers should be leaving Liberty Space is to get Cardamine from Malta (our smuggling fleet and escorts) or going to Arranmore Base (Dublin) to sell pilots, and Gran Canaria to buy Deuterium. So....in order for a member to fly the Crow, at this point I would say that member must demonstrate exceptional roleplay, exceptional teamwork, and exceptional participation in benefiting the clan. In other words, you have to earn it by helping make The Lane Hackers respected throughout Sirius. Then, and only then, the Crow could be a reward for a member's service. So the answer is yes, IF you earn it through great roleplaying. (But wouldn't that be more fun?!)
I also have to say that the Crow could fill a very big gap in our heavy fighter ranks. I will be giving serious consideration to this. Anyone have other unlawful HF suggestions? (I already know about the Ravens Talon)
Weapons: Adv. Debilitators/ Debilitator turrets... what do you think about them? They are made by Ageira among others...and since Lane Hackers are very connected with the company.. they might easily get their hands on some. Freelancer NPCs drop them also.
2) Debilitators are sold at Lane Hacker Bases, so they are permitted.
Mini Razor? for fighters?
3) Minirazors: I haven't had time to consider these, but this has a similar answer to the Crow. The purchase of minirazors would require some actual RP events in game with the [TAZ], where they would give them to us as a reward (or allow us to buy them as a reward) for services rendered. So, maybe, maybe not. We'll see.
Supernova for bombers?
4) Supernova. This can be purchased from Arranmore base, so the answer is the same as for the Minirazors, with probably a much more likely chance of our using it becaues the Mollys are our allies.
