So the 3 simple options that are here so far
1) Decrease armor
2) Increase damage
3) Increase weapon speed
not so simple ones would include removal/adding of wireframes

I would prefer decreasing armor on non-vanilla ships (including bombers).. and leaving it on same level on vanilla ones .... Cannonball+Sidewinder on my Sabre make for nice short fights against vanilla ships
What will happen if the changes are made?
My look on it if I try to be non-biased.
1+2) Fighters would become even less used... because not so good pilots would die all the time => they will buy a GB instead....(already now the GB spamming is becoming quite widespread)
3) no big change from now... but less skilled pilots (pilots with worse aim) would aim better..... so overall fight length might even increase... as the pilots with better aim would need to dodge/evade more to survive.

Any big change like this would need proper testing with huge ammount of players on different skill levels involved....
Question is: Is it such a big problem with long fights now?

4) Increase damage only on fighter weapons?
I fail to see, how come will "increasing projectile speed" going to make fights even longer? Problem with guns as they're now is this: Fighter can kill other fighter only if they're in 1 on 1, targeting each other. In fight with more, again, only fighter targeted by other fighter can land good hits, while fighter chasing it, would have little or no chance to hit at all. Increasing projectile speed, and maybe most weapons re-fire, would certainly help.
Answer: IMHO YES..its a HUGE problem with too long fights as they're now (ruins the game):(
