Yes, the BD is a tough ship to kill, it really takes experience and you and I have fought maybe twice. I know how to fight a Viper just wasn't hitting because you can fly yours, which really doesn't help my already bad aim, so yes we would've been at it for hours, but you said we didn't do any damage (true) so how would a reduce a nanobots solve this? It's just how things will always be between pilots at equal or close skill levels.
As for bomber tactics I'm usually assigned bomber cover when I fly in a squad, there are ways to protect a capital ship from multiple bombers without actually killing it or taking its guns off.
