The only reason people used it was because it had 8 gunslots, and not for any other reason. Guardian/Avenger was better than the Raven Claw except the Raven Claw could mount 6 guns and 2 missile launchers. The ship itself flies like a brick. The gunslots are the only thing that made the ship viable. I wouldn't mind seeing it used again; it would make a great ship for the Order or the LSF.
The Slipstream (aka Penumbra) is broken because it has a ridiculous hitbox. We used to kill battleships with those things in 4.84. That ship should be removed from the mod entirely. It was the most OP ship in the mod save the Blood Dragon Bomber...
