So, yeh. Civilized people look down on that.

Last time I checked most of the civilised people had nothing against diamonds in jewelry, consumer electronics an similar products (update: forgot about fossil fuels). They, imagine that, don't give a damn about who makes his income out of it. Heck, they even don't care about <strike>potentially</strike> dangerous products from a-bit-less-civilised countries. Governments in theory care more, but only in theory.

Regarding that Junker/Rogues argument: if artifacts weren't illegal, Junkers and Rogues would not profit from them. They would be hauled by House shippers and taxed (income!).
