Even Police has SWAT, mate. A Cruiser would be fairly useless, solo, but a Battlecruiser as HQ would be understandable. BS is Overkill. As for Gunboats, you would be using gunboats, because the Liberty Gunboats are old and outmoded, hence what the Police would receive as hand-me-downs. Besides, you need some firepower for the occasional pirate in a bomber. You're succumbing to the anti-capship bias, people. Do what fits your roleplay, not what fits a passing fad in the Community.

Police has SWAT, we have =LSF=. We don't need neither Cruisers or Battlecruisers.
We would not be using gunboats, at least not in the start.
We are mostly RP-ing a Police officers in their small vessels, patrolling, scanning for contraband, and dealing with minor threats.
We are not going to be "PUT THAT DOWN OR MY BIG SHIP KILLS YA!" folks.
I am going to be "God, i hate this job" Cop.
We are not really making this because Liberty lawfuls need some more firepower, we are making it because Liberty lacks RP.
And we will bring some RP. And a good one, i believe.
*And no, this doesn't mean that SA and LSF are lousy RP-ers, but in NY there must be more people to learn the newbies to RP*
I don't want to see first Police flying around in nothing but gunboats. That's why we ditched them completely.
There's SA with their big ships to deal with such threats. We will call for backup, if needed.
And i guess you didn't read the start of this topic, because.
We all want to fly the same ships.
And, if we choose a Liberty Gunboat, then we will all be flying Liberty Gunboats. Like the idea?

Gunboats are not negotiable. If you guys (i'm talking now to the people interested in starting this faction) want to use Gunboats, then go ahead. But in that case, i'm not in.
But, i think we already agreed on that. No gunboats:)

On another note, about cops in different systems.
Well, i thought we make it a bit different.
Yes, sure, for start we will try this mainly in NY, because, it has most people around, and is good for testing.
But, when we develop a bit, we could (read, could, not should, just a suggestion) give each member a partner.
We would have groups of 2 people, who would do the patrolling and scanning.
Now, because i doubt we will have enough men to have 2 people patrolling one area, i doubt this will work.
But just in case there is interest in LPI, and people start to join, it can be done.

And, one more serious note.
If you guys want to make this official, then suggest someone to be the leader.
Don't get me wrong, again, not my quest of power, i'm out before it even starts.
