Pretty well everyone who downloads Disco is going to want to get themselves the biggest ship they see other people flying as fast as possible cause that is "winning" in the conventional sense. Then once they've got the ship and realize how terrible they are to fly (for me it was the Spyglass...) they'll be able to see if they want to play on the server for the reasons that actually make it fun for more than a week. If you make it harder for new players to buy their pet monster it's going to take that much longer to flush those people out of the system.
