idea for battleships...

what i like about the idea of "chewing its subsystems away" is...

- it makes general strafing runs more useless, cause it only takes general hull strengh ( which in that case would be higher than now ) - so it would be inefficient - but a general strafing is easy, cause a battleship offers a target of a size that you allmost cannot miss.

- hitting subsystems requires MUCH more bomberpilot skill - but turrets must be changed to a more or less equal size ( compare solaris turret [chaingun model] with bretonian turret [roughly as big as a patroit] ) - such a bombing run is hard, but would be much much more efficient. a single supernova should take out a turret, - IF it hits.

about the idea with thrusters / cruise...

- i like the idea in a way - but it leads to the fact that borderworld battleships will only move very very slowly - and i am not sure where the thrusters are mounted on the battleships - each BB would need another hardpoint for the thrusters.
