well, i was reading the newspaper on my way to school, and i read something that i thought would be a nice addition to the Disco world, if thats possible.

Quote:How a star becomes a supernova:

1. Stars are mostly big balls of Hydrogen and Helium. Hydrogen is burned within the star’s core in fusion reactions. Towards the end of the star’s life, its hydrogen supplies start to deplete, and the star begins to collapse under the weight of its own gravity
2. As the star contracts, it rises in temperature until helium fusion begins within the core. The energy released by this reaction causes the hydrogen left over in the star’s outer layers to burn. This causes the star to cool up and expand-by up to 200 times- to become a RED GIANT.
3. If the star is particularly large, reactions within the core begin to cascade, producing progressively heavier elements- helium if fused into carbon and oxygen, oxygen into neon, sodium and magnesium, until ultimately, iron is created.
4. Iron fusion uses more energy than it releases, meaning that the nuclear reactions can no longer support the star, causing the star to rapidly collapse. Eventually, the expanding iron core collides with the collapsing gases and the star explodes into a supernova
5. Supernovae play a crucial role in the formation of new stars. Almost all the elements of the universe heavier than hydrogen and helium are created in the canters of stars during their lifetime, or in supernovae explosions. Either way, supernovae disperse this material allowing a new generation of stars to form.

this is a passage from the news clip i am reffering to. for some reason, i cant see the news clipping on the internet on the metro website (people in UK know what metro is ie: free newspaper u get on the buses:P)

anyway, my point i wanted to say was, last time i saw the sun in Omicron Kappa (or was it delta? the red sun in the corner)it says its a red giant when selected. i was thinking, is it possible to remove that sun, to include a supernova in the early stages? yes, i know making a supernova will be pretty hard, but i got the idea when i confirmed with mike (exile) if the black hole in 85 was modded, or was it already present in vanilla. when he replied that nightfall made it from scratch, i thought maybe this could also be possible? it would be quite a good addition to the system..

this picture shows what a supernova looks like when one dies:

this is a pic of a very bright supernova:

tis a supernova cluster:

another example of a supernova, in the distance:

now, your thoughts on the subject..?:)

((PS: i removed the post from mod ideas thread, cuz i just realised summat >.> anyway, discuss:D)

well, a bit more research showed me thatr there are 2 types of supernova occurences..

heres type I:

heres type II:
