The Fall of Bonn

The pair stepped out of the room and into the quiet hallway. They stood for a moment, looking around and hearing for any signs of motion nearby.

"All clear."

Their shoes fell softly onto the metal floor with a small clack every time their sole hit the ground. It was the only sound echoing throughout the halls. As they walked, their eyes darted from door to door and to each other.

"Hey, Franz.."

"I know. They are civilians staying in their rooms. That is all."

The two eventually reached the end of the corridor, where a cargo lift was present that would take them to the upper levels. They stepped into the cage-like door and Franz fiddled with the controls. When the lift took off, Franz sighed for a moment then looked up at the bulky man beside him.

"Kurtt, be ready for anything. Have that.. that weapon of yours ready."

"Alright. And It's got about a 20 second recharge time on it. Keep that in mind if we get into a fight."

Franz raised an eyebrow at his friend, then smiled softly. He reached into his back pocket and pulled several knives. He held one up for them both to see, their reflections glimmering in the side of the weapon. It was just a normal knife. Nothing significant save the slight curve on the blade that made it appear more like a medical object used for carving rather than combat.

"Well in that case.. Guess you won't be the only one having fun. Hah."

They laughed a bit at the thought of killing. It was their nature. It was who they were and are.

"Eh.. but.. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. The mission objective comes first. Killing is only one out of many different ways to get what we came for."

The lift stopped. Their destination has been reached.
