Thankfully the fatherland's commerce is blooming these days, which can only contribute to the unstopping might of Rheinland. At any given time there are some half a dozen traders traveling through New Berlin making our products flow through Sirius. If you think I'm gonna let a known pirate ship roam about amongst these traders, think again.

The way I understand it, the Pirate ID marks a known pirate vessel, RP wise. If not it makes no sense to have them. The ID is an RP aid to cover up for things we cannot have in the restricted game universe. There are no registry offices or personnel in sensor stations dedicated to finding and scanning targets for the pilots. A lawful faction can't even put enough pilots to regulate a system. We have to do all of that ourselves. So, as far as I'm concerned, a Pirate marked ship will never fly inside a lawful ZoI without being hunted down. Their sole entering of a lawful system is an act of aggression to begin with. A fully equipped gunboat or a good bomber pilot can destroy a transport a lot faster than I can travel two tradelanes to intercept it.

I understand and agree with you after a fashion. We can't really go and shoot whomever without good reasoning, that's one of the very things that makes us lawfuls. But also, we are expected and have a responsibility to be efficient and fierce and not to let the bureaucracy and permissiveness get us or worse yet, the people we strive to protect, killed. That's another reason to be rigid, to preemptively separate the law abiding citizens and visitors from the troublemakers. Even though we are very strict, some understand it and contribute to the general order. To those I say, "You're clear. Thank you for complying. Safe flying. Feel free to call if needed be."

I don't act against non offender Smuggler marked ships, but again, I won't wait for a pirate to threaten a trader before I track him down and destroy his ship.

EDIT: Oh yes, we don't like to be stared at. So keep that in mind next time I approach your vessel from your rear starboard, you're not supposed to veer and train your weapons at me while I talk to you, it makes me uneasy and we all know that might end up badly.
